What I enjoyed most was all of the tie ins with past stories I have read. Echoe was the gal that found Zeb in the book Built, Saints of Denver. Her best friend had died living Hyde with no family except for a father that had been clueless to his son's existence. Once Zeb found out, there was no stopping him until Hyde was out of Foster Care. Echoe earned my respect in that book.
Now she is on a mission to tell MacKenzie of Surrender, Montana that he shouldn't play with people's hearts. She needs someone to blame after her sister committed suicide. Echoe crashes, rolling down an embankment, and is rescued by Benny from the Point Series.
It will soon be Benny that crashes into a new reality. Values can change. With so many obstacles I had my doubts if love could conquer all. I should have know that Jay Crownover would not disappoint. She weaves a a believable tale, a tale of hope and dreams. A tale so addictive that I gave up sleep.
I have read everything by this author, so it was a treat for me to see Echo and Benny get a story. It's quick and insta-love. Both of them have major pasts and I could see how that drew them together. But in the end, I really wanted more. I really think that these two deserved a longer story. But, in the end I did enjoy it. They were hot together and maybe that will pop up in later books, so we can see how they are doing.
Two people in need of redemption, acceptance, and forgiveness find themselves thrust together and their collision will be the catalyst for change and create a strong need to fight for more out of life. I enjoyed this story of two lost and broken people finding an unlikely anchor when they least expected it. They are not perfect, they have flaws, and have made mistakes. But everyone deserves a chance to try to be a better person and to find love and acceptance. They just have to figure out if they are going to take it.
This is essentially the story of two people who were not "good" people before, and are now on the road up. They've hit bottom. They've decided to make a go at being better people. But that doesn't mean old habits and temptations are not out of reach. And danger lingers. But a chance meeting between these two strangers gives them not only the hope they desperately need, but the love they didn't even know existed. Benny and Echo were intriguing, vulnerable, redemptive, and sexy. This was a fun little novella.
