After requesting this book from Tyndale for review, I discovered Book 2 (Abducted) for free on Kindle. Since it had been on my to-read list for quite some time, I snatched it up and eagerly read it. While it wasn't my new favorite suspense book, I did enjoy it - and am really glad that I got to read it before this one! They go together wonderfully, and I haven't a doubt that the first pulls them all completely together. I enjoyed this one more than the second one. Incidentally, I happened to notice on the back cover that it's categorized as a Christian romance - that's definitely not what I'd call it. The couple who stars in the series was married by the first book, and part of what the series chronicles is their marriage's survival/life. However, there isn't overly much detail and it's certainly not a super-romantic book.

Now, on to the other things about "Avenged." The book had an accurate feel to it, and the action was good. However, both with this one and "Abducted," I found myself disappointed with the suspense as I was hoping for an author to rank with Lynette Eason, Irene Hannon, and Dani Pettrey. I think that Janice is a good author, and has great promise - but she's not a new favorite suspense author for me. Good books, yes. Favorite suspense, no. However, like I said, it was completely clean, good, and interesting! I have absolutely no problem recommending it to other readers. One thing I really liked about it was that it's the same couple through the entire three book series. Of course, it helped that Carly and Nick were characters that I really enjoyed. Overall? This book and series is good, but not a top favorite for me.

**Tyndale sent me a copy of this book in return for my honest review. I received no other compensation. All opinions and thoughts are my own. I was not required to post a positive review.**

Avenged, the third book, and I hope not the last, in the "Pacific Coast Justice Series" by former cop Janice Cantore. This procedural police story, fits well with the previous two books in the series as they follow the career and relationships of Carly Edwards.

As companions of a man previously arrested for the murder of another member of the La Playas police force seek to undermine his prosecution and to destroy the reputations and the lives of those who made the arrest, Carly Edwards is also reaching out to those who have come into the criminal justice system and, yet, are ready to become active members of the La Playas community. Being involved in both these events will threaten the life, the life of her family, and the life of her friends.

It was a book that I did not want to put down and when I did, I could not wait to get back into the story the next day.

Along with the major plot described above, Carly is also faced with a major career decision when she is invited to be part of a major federal task force under the umbrella of Homeland Security. Her response to the request could easily lead to additional stories in the series. I am afraid that it will not, but I am hopeful.
The book has additional value when one looks at the list of discussion questions provided at the end of the book. The questions are useful for individual or group use as one reflects on the lives and events described by the author. The question allow the reader to grasp some of the spiritual truths that the story reflects in the course of its telling.

I am loving these books by Janice Cantore. I have now finished her first trilogy and couldn't put the books down. Her writing style is that of a seasoned writer. I love the spiritual aspect in her books. The characters jump off the page. Can't wait to read her next book!

I liked the story line but found the loss of interest. I know it is fiction but to be in trouble and still be allowed in crime scenes is far fetched. It is small department but rules are rules. The author is a good author but this didn't interest me like her other books.

Great read, couldn't put the book down. From the first book until the last you can see Carly's relationship with the Lord grow. You can see her struggles to understand and to trust in her new faith. Can't wait to read more from Janice Cantore.

My favorite genre is Christian suspense, so I was excited to find Janice Cantore's Pacific Coast Justice series. Janice Cantore is a former police officer near where I live, and her novels are also set in that area, so that hooked me as well. I had read the prior books in this series (Accused and Abducted), so I was very excited that the third book, Avenged, was being released. These books follow Nick and Carly through the estrangement, reconciliation, and remarriage, all while they are being put in perilous situations as police officers.

Avenged focuses on a mystery surrounding a supposed gang war and a shady reporter. Nick and Carly untangle the mystery in the perfect blend of intrigue, excitement, and suspense.

I definitely enjoyed this book and recommend the entire Pacific Coast Justice series. I look forward to reading further books by Janice Cantore.

I was given a copy of this book by Tyndale House in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
