Collects Avengers (1963) #167-168, #170-177 & Thor Annual #6.

He hails from an unimaginable era: the 31st century. Fleeing through the timestream from the pursuing team of futuristic defenders known as the Guardians of the Galaxy, Korvac the Machine Man has established a secret presence on present-day Earth in the self-created persona of the mysterious Michael. Through such an unassuming guise, Korvac contemplates the elements of a universe he thirsts to command. A really fun snapshot of what the comics were like at the time. Highlights include a very cool Thor story to start it off and the original Guardians' and their interaction with a classic Avengers cast. It wasn't what I expected in that Korvac isn't a typical villain and frankly isn't the antagonist for a lot of the story. It's all very enjoyable and a different style of writing than much of what I am seeing printed today. Personally, I really enjoyed the ripe and hammy narration, the declarative dialogue in the middle of a fight, and thought bubbles! The art has that classic look to it, and really brings it all together.

This classic '70s graphic novel pits the Avengers against their toughest foes yet: Michael Korvac. Its open with "Thor Annual #6" where Thor teams up with the Guardians of the Galaxy against Korvac in the 30th Century. Then in "Avengers #167-168 & #170-177", the Avengers joins forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy against Michael Korvac with help from Black Panther, Black Widow, Hercules, Quicksilver, Ms. Marvel & Captain Marvel. Of course, they also have to put up with Ultron & the Collector along the way. The story concludes with Korvac dies & his fiance Carina dies at the hands of Thor's hammer.

This storyline was actually adapted into an episode of "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" called "Michael Korvac". This is a must-have collection.

A Marvel tale written by Jim Shooter with a huge character roster. While the graphic side is just ok, the written side shines! Great little spotlight on various characters within which tied into their individual titles at that time. GOTG is NOT the cinematic version.

One of the best Avengers stories out there. This has it all and the guest stars contained within are stellar... The now very popular Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel, Doctor Strange, Nick Fury, Two Gun Kid, Moongragon and many more. An absolutely huge Avengers roster assembles in this saga to deal with Korvac.. Ultron.. The Collector and more.

A great mid-period Avengers saga, both in execution and in the sheer number of Avengers featured. Even Two-Gun Kid makes an appearance. My only complaint...why does The Beast disappear halfway through it? He gets "collected" by The Collector during their one-at-a-time disappearances, and the last time you see him is when he's in one of The Collector's...well...COLLECTION tubes. Then, when they're all released, everyone is drawn in a group except The Beast. Then, at the very end of the saga, you get a teaser that says "NEXT ISSUE - THE RETURN OF THE BEAST!", so even the writers knew he'd been ignored for awhile.

I have heard a lot about this storyline and characters over the years, so I thought I would check it out. It definitely lived up to what I have heard about it. The Avengers have always had a huge cast of characters, and with this story, there are guest stars galore. The Guardians of the Galaxy, Adam Warlock, many others. The creators put their all into this story and it shows.

This is one of the iconic Avengers epics from the 70s. Not as sweeping as the Kree-Skrull War before it, and not as epic in scale as the Infinity Gauntlet, but a rather...calm epic. I remember reading this as a kid and being somewhat confused by it all, because Shooter & Co. explored a very different sort of villain...a villain who may not even have been a villain.

The story is great, and the excellent art is reproduced here in traditional four-color style.

But the paper is cheap, the covers curl easily, and the whole thing costs way too much for about 200 pages of content. If they were going to reproduce the material so cheaply, it should have been about half this price.

The story is very well constructed and is built through a long period, leaving clues here and there.
However, the end sounded very simple to me. Someone with so much power, and at the end the fight finishes in a matter of a few pages.

The Korvac Saga is an Avengers story from the 70s that is a classic story. Korvac travels through time and space till he reaches Forest hills were he aims to live a peaceful life with his wife and destroy anyone who gets in his way including the avengers!! Great artwork and great writing although a bit dated in places.
