It's difficult to write a review like this, because someone is going to complain that I'm not reviewing the item in this ad., and instead complaining about receiving the wrong item, but let me explain.

I searched for a long time, trying to find the item pictured in this ad., because my favorite water bottle is designed to engage the large round section in front of the item pictured in their ad.. Instead I got a water bottle holder like most of the newer designs, where the front portion has been run through a set of rollers in order flatten that section, so that a water bottle can slide smoothly up and down. I don't want that, I want the one in their picture, the one I thought I was getting, so I think this review is a fair warning, you will not be getting the bottle holder in their picture, you will be getting the newer design.

It's very very close, and I'm sure most people would say "big deal, or the newer design is better", but it is a big deal, and the newer design is not better. Bottom line is, you will not be getting the item shown in their picture.

Addendum: lol ... after posting this review, I went back and read all the other negative reviews, which I should have done before, but the fact is, dozens of other people said the exact same thing ... you do not get the item shown in their picture, you get the item shown in mine (see attached photo).

The bottle cage I received is not the same as the one shown in the photos. The cage I received is too narrow to hold a water bottle and is shorter in height than a normal cage. The mounting plate is extremely thin and has three holes, not two as indicated in the photos. The product is painted not anodized and my paint was badly chipped when it arrived. This product is a very poor quality Chinese knock off. You may get a ride or two of use out of it, but you will be better off going down to your local bike shop and spending $8 on real bottle cage.
On top of the terrible quality, the seller shipped the cage in a plastic envelope so the product got crushed during shipping and arrived bent.

Fairly cheap price wise, extremely cheap quality wise

Not of good quality, the aluminum bars that support the bottle are not connected instead the bar that supports the bottom of the bottle and the bar that supports the side of the bottle as it sits in it are not welded together but are instead held together by the thin thin sheet metal that attached them to the soild piece of metal that attached them to the bike mounts. And these bars aren't even welded to the sheet metal, instead they are attached with a divet, not a rivet but a divet. Meaning they were slipped in to the sheet metal connector and hit with a pin to create an indent. Avenir doesn't necessarily make bad things and IMHO I don't think this is made by Avenir or sold as an avenir product with their knowledge because it is garbage. Only got 2 stars because it did arrive on time and is still intact on my bike almost a year later but that is because I usually have one water bottle and I put it in my other holder which is worlds more secure.

To fit standard water bottles. I don't use a reusable water bottle because the water in my city sucks so I stick to regular sized water bottles. I had to clamp down on it to secure the regular plastic capped bottles.. i guess i didn't have to use my muscles i could have simply stepped on it for the desired diameter. Feels secure and snug and it was cheaper here than my local bike shop, which wanted to charge me 8 for it, 10 to install... wtf this is the easiest thing to install.. get it and stay hydrated!

I've had this water bottle cage for about a year and it was worked flawlessly so far. I use it with a 24oz insulated Polar water bottle and it fits securely in the cage while still sliding out easily enough to grab one handed. I have never had my water bottle fall out of the cage.

The black finish has held up fine. The water bottle cage also came with two new bolts to attach it to the standard brackets on my bike frame. This was highly appreciated since the bolts that had been in my frame were pretty rusty/grungy looking.

There may be lighter wattle bottle cages, but it's not like the thing is super heavy. I ride at most 30 miles at a time, so I'm a pretty causal rider, so things like weight don't really matter to me. For commuters or casual weekend riding, this water bottle holder fulfills its purpose just fine.

Good price for a basic water bottle holder. Use on a mountain bike for 25-40 mile rides. Replaced an adjustable one only because the color matched better ( a little ocd?).. I don't mind these types if I have a smaller bottle just bend it in a little. As it arrived the bottle would hold my camelbak podium 24oz perfectly. Might have been a little loose for the slimmer and much taller polar 24oz bottle. No problems. Did not come with screws. Most bikes have them already.

This cage arrived in a padded manilla envelope (not a box) after 3+ weeks of waiting. The package was not sufficient to protect it and it was bent in two directions when it arrived. I was able to bend it back to its original shape but now the metal is not strong enough to hold a water bottle. You get what you pay for!

Great, Simple, And To The Point

It's a simple alloy bottle cage said and done. Not a whole lot to it but that's just how I like it. Thicker diameter than most cages so that's a plus. It's got a nice gloss finish which I like, not a big fan of flat colors. Not much to say really. Of course if you do some hard riding it'll probably break at the weld, but that's a simple alloy cage for you. I put more abuse on these types of cages than anyone probably should and they usually last me anywhere between 6 months to a year. For the price that's honestly nothing to complain about and I've always considered these types of bottle cages a disposable item. For road, xc, light trail riding, commuting, or anything of that sort you'll probably never have a problem. Great product at a great value, it is what it is.
