This is a pretty simple product so there is not much to say. I have a 46 tooth crank, so this cog gives me a good top speed, but starting from a stop and climbing hills can be rough. If you have a 21 speed bike, the ratio of this cog and my crank is similar to 3rd chainring + 5th gear on the cassette (or gear 3 on left shifter, gear 5 on right shifter) of a 21 speed mountain bike. Not all 21 speed bikes have the same set of gears so this is just a rough guide. If you ride in urban areas (and have a large-ish front crank like mine) you might consider getting a 17 or 18 tooth cog for quicker starts (less teeth = higher top speeds, more teeth = faster acceleration).

You will need a Avenir Fixed Gear Lock Ring (or any 1/2"X1/8" lockring of your choosing), a chainwhip tool, and lockring wrench (or just bring it to a bike shop and they will put it on for $5-10).

Oh, and one more tip for anyone that might be completely new to fixies: Do not try to stand up at high speed, your bike will try to throw you off (practice it at slower speeds). In fact, just try to stay at a moderate speed until you get a bit more experience riding a fixie. Stay safe and have fun!

This cog is mis-labeled as a 3/32" when it is actually 1/8", thus it will not work with standard narrow chains, only track chains. If you look at the other Avenir cogs on Amazon, the black cogs are 1/8", and the silver ones are 3/32". This one appears to be labeled incorrectly. Don't buy this if you need a 3/32" cog. I have other 3/32" Avenir cogs (silver) and I think they're a great bargain and work fine. 5 stars for good cogs at a good price. 1 star for sloppy size marking.

Not much to say for a simple product. Works well as a reasonable gear for a fixie. I'm a reasonably strong rider and started with a 15 tooth cog and my 46 tooth chainring. That one was just a bit too much for suburban commuting in traffic.

I ordered this after reading previous reviews stating that this cog is actually 1/8" & doesn't fit 3/32" chains. Even the packaging card said that this is 3/32", but I was glad to find that this cog is 1/8" and even tried to see if a 3/32" chain would fit & it doesn't. I was glad to find the cog I received is 1/8". It threads on perfect & good teeth. I ride bicycle every day & Avenir cogs work great for me.

Unfortunately, I neglected to read the other comments before ordering this product. As a previous commenter pointed out, the black Avenir cog is 1/8" and NOT the 3/32" cog as indicated in the product description. Based on the dates of other comments, the description of this product has sadly been incorrect for a long time. Don't buy if you are looking for a 3/32" cog.

I didn't read the reviews before buying this, because it's a cog. Turns out it is mislabeled as some other reviewers mentioned. It is an 1/8 cog not a 3/32 as labeled. I returned the first one I got thinking it must've been a packing error, and when the second arrived and was still incorrect, that's when I noticed this must just be wrong from Avenir. Very disappointed.

There's not much you can say about a cog. This one showed up without any blemishes or issues with the quality and after a short period of break in where it was a little loud, this thing has been dutifully performing just fine. Wear seems normal (which is to say, it's almost imperceptible.)

Cog seems good, but I received the wrong size. It's not worth sending back or replacing immediately, since a smaller cog than chain is "fine." I'm not happy about it, however, so 1 star it is.
