Top critical review
Poor quality control.
February 12, 2016
A loose-leaf binder is a pretty simple product, seen one, seen them all.
This binder is a curious contradiction. The metal parts; rings and latch are exceptional. Smooth and easy opening.
The binder itself is flimsy feeling and poorly made. One reviewer commented on the plastic jacket being wrinkled. So was mine.
It just looks like a slap-dash job without any real quality control. On a 10-scale with most binders as a 5, I would rate this one as
an 8 on the metalwork, and 3 overall.
One thing that I particularly like is that the rings are "D-shaped", rather than the more common "O-shaped".
The straight side of the "D", keeps the paper from forming bent distortions at the ring side. I also like how the rings
open with a pretty easy pressure on the end buttons. I have had binders which required both hands to spread the rings
open and felt like I was closing a bear-trap. You've probably seen these, too.
Because the metal ring assembly is mounted on the back cover, instead of the usual position at the spine, this binder
feels "floppy" toward the front. Because the ring assembly is back mounted, these binders are also wider than most.
I would think this will cause problems for people with narrow shelves or storage boxes made for the more common
I bought this product in combo with an 8-color Avery divider, I disliked it too, because of it's rotten color choices.
Three shades of green, two of blue, two of orange-----but no red. Poor choices. I really do like the ring design,
but overall I think this product is poorly made. I won't be buying it again.
