Waste of time - adhesive doesn't stick

Ordered this product by mistake - I typed Avery 5164 in the search box, and this product popped up as Amazon's choice.
I was appalled when it arrived to see that it is specifically for LASER printers. However, it costs as much to return this item as the item costs, so faced with tossing it out or using it anyway, I tested it through my inkjet printer.
I was very pleased to note that this worked just fine in my Canon inkjet printer - no blurring, no smudging, and totally legible to read.
The BIGGEST problem is that the adhesive doesn't stick. I applied these a week ago and all of the labels are peeling off.
I have to replace all of these - and will probably go with an off brand in order to get some real sticking power.

Beware of knockoffs!

I always had really good performance from Avery products, until my last order came through and it was a knockoff. I didn't notice it at first besides the poor quality of the labels smudging really bad (thought it might be my ink). The box has the Avery logo and even includes all the other legal disclaimers pertaining to a package produced by Avery. The labels themselves even have the Avery logo and name printed in the margins like real Avery labels.are printed. However, if you look closely at the box under the Avery name their is another name, "Skilcraft". I've included a picture with this review.

These labels have caused a large headache trying to use them for our business. Again, Avery; real Avery labels are a quality product that we use a lot of. To get suckered into purchasing a knockoff is disheartening. Please insure the box of labels you get only have the Avery name on them and if they don't...ship them back and ask for a refund!

Good labels but adhesive weak.

Been using Avery 5164 for about 10 years with no problems. They don't jam and are high quality labels. This particular box is a mess though because the labels don't stick to the folders. But it took about a week for the labels to start peeling. Initially we thought just a few sheets were bad but then more and more of the folders started to peel at the corners. We didn't realize we had a problem until half a box was used. By then it was well over a month. Oh well a bad batch apparently. Even the Staples brand didn't do this in the past.

These labels really are very nice to avoid hand-writing addresses and such, and you can use templates to make a fun pattern for your events as well!

So, here are the quick points:

- Feed them 1 at a time,and they don't jam up in my Brother printer
- Avery provides thousands of 'templates' you can get online so you can print your addresses inside of a nice templated picture custom to your event, really a pretty neat feature, and their website is easy to use
- Stick on envelopes and such well

No particular cons I can think of. We have gone through lots of packs of these, and they get the job done without hassle each time.

There's not a whole lot you can say about mailing labels. I like the size of these; they're great for printing a mailing address as well as a return address, and there's even room for a logo if you want one.

They were easy to print on (I have a low-end laser printer from Samsung) and didn't gum up the printer. The adhesive is also good, even on envelopes that are a little slick.

If I had one complaint, it would be with the formatting of the labels. There are a couple of options printed on the package for getting templates for use in MS Word. I eventually managed to get one of them to work, although it was not necessarily easy. I had a bit of trouble with the formatting (it kept wanting to put the text of the upper left label outside the printable area, so I had to just use the middle left label instead), although that may be a Word/Mac compatibility issue.

Still, Avery has been a reliable brand for me in the past and I'm sure someone with better word processor skills would have an easier time of it. 4.5 stars.

Perfect for bottle labels

I use these as labels for bottles. It is the perfect size for labeling 12.7 ounce bottles. The positive points are:

1 - They do not jam, bend or otherwise get messed up during the printing cycle.
2 - They peel easily from the sheet, but stick VERY firmly to glass.
3 - They are thick enough so that they can be applied to bottles smoothly with no wrinkles. This is a HUGE advantage over some other types of labels we have tried.
4 - The 5264 template is built in to most major software packages. Setting up the labels for printing was a breeze.

The negatives are: Haven't found any yet!

One reviewer mentioned that he had problems removing labels once they were applied to bottles. First, that's generally a good thing. The last thing I would want to happen is to have the labels just slide off after getting wet or being subjected to temperature changes. However I tried removing labels for the first time last week and didn't really find it all that hard. What I did was rinse the bottles with hot running water for a couple of minutes. I then places the bottles in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes. The labels peeled right off for the most part. In a couple of cases there was a bit of adhesive left on bottles, but that rubbed off easily enough while the bottle was still hot.

My wife actually then used a bit of an environmentally friendly degreaser on a bottle that was not boiled, and that seemed to remove the adhesive easily enough as well.

I highly recommend this product.

Waste of 600 labels

Have been using Avery 5164 for years, no problems. This batch from Amazon seller, they don’t stick, the edges curl up on my product plastic jar! Waste of 600 labels! To late for refund as I used up old supply before starting to use this batch. Really dissappointed.

I couldn't address self-sealing envelopes with a pen or a marker, it wouldn't take, so I bought these labels. They work great and are easy to use. I have a manual address stamp that I use for my return address then I write the destination address by hand. There's plenty of space to write and the only thing is now I have to be careful to leave room for the postage stamps.
