From the Back Cover
All he wanted was to fly. A teenage pilot with an itchy throttle hand, a DaVinci-esque knack for sketching, and four generations of aeronautical heritage can't wait to manifest his passionate aversion to the ground. He sees every hard earned dollar as a tick on the Hobbs meter. Every unencumbered swath of dirt is a potential landing strip, legal or not. His head literally in the clouds over airplanes and girls, the young Aviator can't take a hint. Oblivious to the opportunities and history right under his nose, his jaunts over the Cascade Mountains of Washington State to fly 1940s era taildraggers at Evergreen Field land him in the company of local aviation legend, Wally Olson. Three decades later, the reminiscent Aviator gets 20/20 vision from Dr. Hindsight.

I thoroughly enjoyed the details on the planes, air operations, and flying procedures. Many sketches and pictures are also included. The only thing I wish were different are how the details are laid out - for someone not familiar with airplanes, it takes a couple read through on some sections to understand the processes.
The author details a loving family, and a lot of information on the perspective of a young man (as well as hindsight observations). Some of it is quite amusing. One note of caution - the author does not use foul language, but does detail dialogue where the "replaced" word is still considered inappropriate.
Overall, I'd give this book four out of five stars. I learned a lot, and was kept interested throughout the book. The author give plenty of situational detail and character thoughts. Christian principles are highlighted and practiced. I recommend this book for those who enjoy biographies, and some aviation history.
