He has undergone an incredible journey, chasing his dream from the tender age of 8 years to what he is today: 69 countries and 14 states, 6 licences, Director Flight Operations. This makes it a very memorable journey. He has 11 more years and would probably add more to the list and make it into the Guinness Book of records.
He has a very engaging style of writing. For example, his description of situations wherein he was refused a landing permit, planning to ditch in the Pacific with a 250 lb patient, and when he was told to, “descend to 10,100 metres, launching a rocket” are very well written. As a pilot, when I put myself in his situation, I can well imagine what he and his F/O went through till they landed back safely on terra firma.
This book is an inspirational read, for any young pilot wishing to join the Bizjet segment in the aviation Industry. I would like to wish Ivan many more “Happy Landings”.
LearJet 35, since that day I was so impressed with the kind of professional that he was, a kind of professional not easy to find, I remember that I asked him in our first flight, what are you doing here? And he told me I want to fly Jets, a Learjet Captain and I asked again, and that’s it?
But Ivan had so many dreams, so many projects and so many studies to put in practice and this is one of them, very well done as he normally does the things.
If you are Corporate pilot you will enjoy the book
If you are Airline pilot it is going to make you think
If you are student pilot it is going to teach you
And if you are a person who likes to read “Welcome aboard”
“Congratulations Capt. Luciani, this has been the best flight of your life”
A truly dedicated Professional, a Leader by example and Mentor to others.
Any words spoken by Ivan is carefully chosen and considered… So is his approach to aviation and human relations.
I met Ivan more than 3 years ago when I was being interviewed to succeed him in managing the Flight Training Department of a large Asian based Corporate Jets Management Company.
His accessibility, his constant willingness to contribute ideas and promote safety initiatives make him a well respected figure in the small World of Corporate Aviation.
His recollection of anecdotes encountered during an aviation career spanning 3 decades, was entertaining, funny and captivating.
I would recommend this ‘easy-to-read book’, to any student or aspiring pilots, while also suggesting to keep a Diary of your personal Journey.
To the existing Professional Aviators, this series of short stories will make you recall some of the most memorable experiences that marked your own Career!

Definitely advice for other aviators.
