I bought mine assembled at Toy R Us, price was $80. I was surprised by the price as it was marked higher until we got to the cash register. I bought this for my 5 year old to grow into. I'll keep the training wheels on until he's a little taller. He can get on and off on his own with no problems (he's 46" tall). He does has some difficulty getting the pedals going from a dead stop, but its a big boy bike. I expect that he'll have a learning curve, it'll be good for him. The coaster brakes are fun for him to make skid marks, but I hope I can take them off as he gets older for more of a BMX feel. This definitely has the look of a BMX bike, but doesnt match up to the bikes we had in the 80's. Of course with a low price tag I'm not expecting the quality of a Haro, or GT. However its a great transition bike that will last until he outgrows it in 4-5 years. He's very happy with it and rides it when ever he can. When he's old enough i'll introduce him to the 80's movie RAD and get him something he can do a back flip with. For now this is age appropriate, good quality and has a sporty look to it.

It is supposed to be heavy, it seems pretty well-made a child has used it for about a year now and will be six in the next two months. All the reviews are saying that it is heavy and hard to ride or hard to go from a dead stop because it is heavy, I think there's a problem with the back wheel. I went back to the store and found they all had the same sound when pedaling a bike, sounds like you just hear a bad bearing or bad set of bearings. Everything else about the bike seems perfect as you would expect for a bicycle. Nice and heavy, study for a toddler or above which is perfect. On my way to the store to buy a new back tire to see if this kid can fly from a dead stop - i'm sure he will.

I bought this for my 6-year-old and he finds it difficult to ride because it is so heavy. Other neighborhood kids have tried it out. The six and seven year old kids found it to be too difficult because it was too much work and effort to "get the bike going." The 8-year old liked the bike and found it easy to ride after we removed the training wheels. I wish I could return this bike for a lighter one.

It's not only a boys bike. The flashy green looks very pretty, and can be neutral for both boys and girls. It's hard to find an 18-inch bike, not to say a high quality one like this. With those pegs, you can even take on a passenger. Two kids on one bike definitely makes riding more fun. The only thing I wish this bike could have is a kickstand, instead of the training wheels. The bike is well made and heavy. It can be hard for a small child to lay it on the ground gently.
