The outside pockets are a little on the small side, but fit my TSA compliant toiletries and a few cables and such just fine. It has a sleeve on the back for sliding onto the handle of a larger rolling suitcase, which can also be zipped closed on the bottom to make it into another pocket that will fit a newspaper or iPad (barely).
As noted in a previous review, it's not well suited to having other bags stacked on top of it, but that's due to the fact that it is a very light bag, even when packed. It's not a flaw in my mind, just physics. I carry my electronics and paperwork in an Ogio backpack, and that does seem to set there ok if I set it straps out. The small size really shines in overcrowded overhead bins since it only needs about half the space of a standard rollaway.
UPDATE: I have found my idea of the perfect backpack to pair with this roll aboard: the Briggs and Riley Accelerate. It slides onto the handle and perches perfectly, without upsetting the balance. It also stands on its own when set down, and slides perfectly under the seat on an aircraft.
I just returned from a business trip and in this little bag I was able to pack 2 suits (jackets and pants), 2 dress shirts, jeans, a sweater and of course under garments. I flew on a CRJ 900, CRJ 200 and a DHC 8 turbo prop. In all three planes, the bag was able to fit in the overheads and under the seats. It was a tight squeeze on a couple of the overheads so I packed my toiletries in my personal bag so that there was not any additional bulging on the front of the Victorinox bag.
Took on 3 night trip and had no trouble with space. Packed 2 pants, 3 dress shirts, belt, toiletries and under garments, with space to spare. Flew on a ERJ 145, ERJ 175 and a CRJ 700 and the bag fit in the overhead and under the seat on all three. On the ERJ/EMB 145, you'll need to put in the overhead handle first and make sure there's no bulging on the top of the bag in order to fit and it will only fit under the seats on the right side of the jet, not under the single seats on the left side.
By a Tumi if you are spending this kind of money. Any problem they repair it without questions asked.
So don't buy if, like me, you were looking for a spinner for short trips that looks professional and would alleviate the hoisting of a bag into the overhead. Otherwise great bag.
