Avon Gale was once the mayor on Foursquare of Jazzercise and Lollicup, which should tell you all you need to know about her as a person. She likes road trips, rock concerts, drinking Kentucky bourbon and yelling at hockey. She's a displaced southerner living in a liberal midwestern college town, and she never gets tired of people and their stories -- either real or the ones she makes up in her head.
To celebrate the release of HEART OF THE STEAL, my delightful co-author, Roan Parrish, and I decided to commission some original artwork!
The first one depicts a scene from early on in the novel, when Will and Vaughn have a bit of, ah, a tense encounter.
Eee! Isn’t it awesome? I love the smirk on Vaughn’s face, and the scowl on Will’s. No lie, this is totally my desktop background.
We’ll have a few more to share, too! Thanks to Smoxt for the beautiful ar
Just a quick note to say if you’re in the St. Louis area, I’ll be signing books at Rose’s Bookhouse in O’Fallon, Missouri, as part of their holiday party on Saturday, December 3rd, from 2-4! I’ll be there along with Jade Lee/Kathy Lyons, and there’s all kinds of cool stuff going on — including a sale! Yay! I’m a huge fan of used bookstores, and I’d love to say hello!

Come celebrate the season with special guests:
Y’all, I am *super excited* that today is the release day for the anthology “Changing on the Fly”, which features six stories of m/m hockey romance for your reading pleasure! My story is called “Next Season” and it’s about a young defenseman, Nick Miles, who’s traded along with a Big Name Player to a new team in Philadelphia. The team is terrible but Nick doesn’t mind — it’s the first time he’s been on an NHL roster and not playing in the minors. He’s also got a huge crush on his teammate, Ev
Eeee! Empty Net comes out on Friday, you guys. I’m super excited (and…nervous, natch) to share Isaac’s story, as he very quickly became one of my favorite characters to write (which is why he shows up in every book in the series since Book 2, haha).
If you would like to pick up the first three books, Dreamspinner is having an awesome promotion where the first book, Breakaway, is only $1! Save of the Game (Book 2) is $2, and Power Play (Book 3) is…yes, you guessed it! $3! A book hat tr
I have spent today getting myself acquainted with the nifty little service Instafreebie, which is a pretty awesome way for authors to offer bonus material to readers. Yay! I set up an account, and now there is a little slice-of-life vignette in the Scoring Chances series called Overtime, which is set immediately after Power Play and before the events of Empty Net. I have it listed as 3.5, and it’s not terribly long, about 4100 words.
There’s a line in the second chapter of&
So it’s June, and why it feels like LATE AUGUST I don’t even know. Seriously I don’t mind summer and I don’t mind some nice hot days, but it’s been over 95 for 947 days in a row and will continue until the end of all things
Also our air conditioner was out, which made me a cranky Avon because NO. It is very hard to want to do anything that isn’t nap or complain when it’s that hot. Luckily, we got a great storm last night and! the air is fixed. This is why I don’t blo
I’m literally the worst at blogging, I know. I tend to be on Twitter and Facebook a lot, though, sharing my every thought without censure. (Way to promote yourself, Avon >>) But I do want to do a quick recap of my experiences at RT Con, talk about the pain and sorrow that is being a hockey fan, and share some news about my upcoming releases
Wow. WOW. This was my first convention, and very like me that I would choose to go to the biggest one of them all to get my
Yay! My dark comedy Valentines Day short story, “Conversation Hearts”, is out today!
I wrote this for an anthology call that never ended up happening, and Dreamspinner was still interested in publishing it. I’m not usually one who writes short stories, because I’m super wordy. But I think it worked in this instance, and I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. I had a lot of fun writing it, anyway!
It’s a story about a rent boy, Levi, who’s waiting for his client to show up…
I swear, the last two days waiting for a book release is like the two days before Christmas or your birthday or the end of school, etc. And I’m learning that it is the same !!!!!! feeling no matter if you have done this recently or not. You will still maybe wake up at 4 am wondering if you should get up now and give up trying to sleep or what. I mean. Maybe you might do that. >>
I’m very excited to share Save of the Game with y’all! It’s a bisexual romance about two hockey playe
