It is about time.
Who knew that by just replacing the common sand in an hourglass with Magnet Hourglass you could defy the laws of space, time, and physics and make it appear to flow in reverse? But that's exactly what happens with this Awaglass timer.
Given their lack of accuracy, and audible alarms, the hourglass doesn't get used much outside of quaint kitchen settings. But as a desk toy, this lovely hand-blown Awaglass makes for a mesmerizing distraction to your tasks at hand. And every time it blooms, you're about 1 minute closer to the work day being over.
A Poem for this Magnet Hourglass:
When flowers smile in the spring,
we appreciate its beauty,
nostalgia aroma, very few people think that
its seeds in the coming autumn what will be.
Life is like a flower,
once blooming gorgeous is lucky;
once beautiful bright is happiness.

You can make this little piece a lot nicer if you take some mineral oil or other wood oil to the base, before you stick it somewhere. It'll make the wood pop a little more (It's a really light wood, like birch or something), and it makes the wood expand very slightly, so it'll hold the magnet in.
Second, don't throw the hourglass around, be careful with it. It's blown glass, about standard thickness for such things, and as it's glass, it'll break if you hit it on things. I've dropped it on my wood desk, though, and it's fine.
The other complaint I've seen is that it doesn't make the pictured crystals and interesting structures. Tip the hourglass 90 degrees and sit the empty end on the base, then tip it upright. The first five to ten seconds will create cool crystals like in the pictures, then it turns to a spiky ball thing for most of the remainder. Still very cool. Also, doing the tip over in stages like this ensures that you will never have any problem of the base or magnet flying up into the glass, because there's nothing to attract it when you put the empty bulb on the base.
Lastly, a valid complaint: The time is not accurate, and seems to vary wildly for each hourglass. I can see how this is possible for hand-blown glass, if the little hole is a bit bigger or smaller. Mine is apparently better than everyone else who's complained: Mine lasts 37 seconds (not the advertised 60, but much closer than others). It's not a good timer (no hourglass is) but that's not the point of the trinket.
Get it, it's cute, be careful with it.
I was pleased that mine arrived without the goofy "9 Pig" logo on it. It is just a blank, natural wood base, and it looks great.
One small criticism: the magnet in the base came loose after a month or so. A bit of super glue fixed the problem, and I've had no issues since.
This provided minutes of entertainment! Then he was done with it because it clogs up from time to time. But it's still cool. I blame his short attention span, not the product.
The base of this holds a small magnet which makes for about 15 seconds of entertainment, then an item I'll probably forget I own. In spite of this, it will be something of a novelty I plan to keep around until someone knocks it over.
Cool idea, love the minimalistic design, but it doesn’t work. The black magnetic sand gets stuck way to often. Requires multiple taps for the full “minute” to pass...if I could even measure the accuracy without being stuck.
