The Awair is easy to use, hook up, reset, understand app results, but accuracy? I have doubt 4 out of the 5 sensors it has are dead on accurate. Temperature, humidity, CO, particulate matter. You can also trust it to inform you of events that are taking place you may not know about. But in terms of the Total VOC measurement, all I trust it for is to tell me when levels are increasing or decreasing. In terms of what they are and whether levels are safe, I think it's useless. There are a lot of studies out there backing up the claim that total VOC level measurements are useless without a breakdown of VOC sources to go with it. And that is exactly what you get with the Awair reading. It is not portable and has to be recalibrated if you want to use it to look for VOC sources. Also, I've read you may have to let it sit and calibrate VOC's for a month or more in one spot if you want to be able to trust any reading you get. So my advise is buy it for the other 4 sensors and only trust the green light to tell you things are good.

I was on the fence buying this due to the price but its worth it. The app is well made and offers a lot of useful information. recommendations and a widget for a quick view of the air quality. There are also push notification is the event air quality changes for the worse.

Accuracy is hard to measure since I do not have any professional equipment to test but based on the past week everything is fairly stable without much fluctuation. I found CO2 does change based on environmental conditions really well. If I am cooking with my gas burning stove and do not use the exhaust vent the levels will rise gradually. Once I turn the vent on and crack a window it will begin to fall as expected. PM2.5 also falls in line with my HEPA filter usage. I used to turn them off at night but found by morning the PM2.5 was very high until I ran them again for multiple hours. Temperature and humidity are dead on with my thermostat.

Despite the pictures the unit is really small and can fit anyway. Another bonus is the power plug is USBC allowing you to run a longer cable if needed.

Peace of mind when working from home

Now that I'm working from home full time like many of us, I was concerned about the air quality in my home office. This device helped me to immediately diagnose the issues with my air quality and I've seen the immediate results of taking steps to improve it (cracking open a window when CO2 is too high, getting a humidifier to combat the dry desert climate, etc).

The device looks great and the display on the device itself is pretty easy to understand once you get used to what each of the bars means. I also like how the display can be adjusted to show any of the metrics individually or can be used as a simple clock if desired. I also appreciate the light level adjustment and the sleep mode which would come in handy if using the device in a bedroom.

Additionally, I've found the mobile software to be top notch. I like being able to track trends over time and see the impact of my actions in graph form. Unlike others here I personally haven't had any issues keeping it connected to WiFi, though I understand that would be frustrating.

All in all, if you're spending more time at home lately and are concerned about your air quality, I'd highly recommend this!

Losing critical functionality after <2y!

Purchased this in mid-2020. Definitely superior to the Airthings devices and agrees roughly with my Aranet4 CO2 meter. But I would NOT have purchased this unit had I known the app/wifi access would be discontinued after less than two years! Holy smokes! I've utterly lost my faith in this company. I'm a scientist who does IAQ and infectious disease transmission research and was previously quite supportive and recommended the unit to others. (For context, I'm interviewed by journalists about SARS-2 not infrequently and mention CO2 meters. Now, privately, I issue warnings about this one.) The wifi access was important for us to monitor use of our space by guests while away, get data at night, and check on the temperature and humidity of the house. (We spend a very large amount of our time traveling.) Frankly it's more of a novelty without this feature. I couldn't be more frustrated we spent so much money on it. I had been planning to buy a unit or two for my lab, nearby conference rooms, and my mom. Now I'll probably build something myself. What a terrible precedent for a company to establish at the onset of a resurgence of interest and investment in IAQ.

I'll be requesting a charge back or similar with my credit card company.

Good device, at its former price.

The Awair Element Indoor Air Quality Monitor worked well for 20 months, and then it's died. I like how it just sat there, in its appointed location, sensing temperature, humidity, CO2, VOCs, and PM2.5 levels, in my living room, which is the best location within my apartment. It had a 1-year warranty and it lasted 2/3 longer. However, I purchased this unit from Amazon for $149, all of 20 months ago. Now, Amazon's price is $281, while this vendor asks $265. For a 1-year warranty, I won't buy this unit again at such prices. I highly recommend the Awair Element Indoor Air Quality Monitor...at $149. It just sat there, always on, without a battery to fuss with. How can it only last 1 year, or only 20 months? Newer tech is available now, so I'll look for that.

Best at this price range to include particulate measure

We own two (sustainability-friendly) pellet stoves and I worried about the particulate being put out in the air. I did not want a landfill-destined "rechargeable" model, which ruled out almost all of the lower cost models.

I like the dashboard display, though you will have to memorize its meaning -- or use the nicely designed app to get the details.

It's also been useful to get our humidity in balance, though there are less costly solutions for that.

I may have more to say after longer term use.
