This book is amazing. As I sit here trying to gather my thoughts to write this review, that is all I can think. It is amazing. Thank you, Sloat, for creating characters who are strong enough and truly good enough that I am left feeling like their story will continue to be a happy one long after the last page is read. Sometimes I am left feeling like the best moment of the characters lives is the one I just read about. I didn't feel that way when I finished this book. I feel as if these heroic friends will continue to have many more triumphs and happy moments, whether they are written or not. That takes a truly talented writer to achieve.
This book picks up smoothly a few weeks after the previous book ended. Once again, there was no lingering too long in any point of the story, no over description of scenery or characters. The flow was fantastic and made it easy to move through. Aurora has become even more the heroin who is not fearless, but brave, and that is wonderful. She is to be a tremendous ruler who will be fair by all her subjects and will unite her kingdom. Sawyer, though asleep, was still kept in the forefront of the story and I appreciated that. Flashbacks give us insight on their developing love and really made that love feel true and not the whim of teenagers. Friends from the previous book still continue their role in the story and we make new friends along the way and, even though they are new to the final book in a series, they are well developed and quickly become vital to the story.
I am going to stop now because I could really get into some spoilers. I finished this book and wanted to sit and talk about it so badly I had to bite my tongue. A good book does that. I will most definitely be reading more by Christy Sloat and recommend you read this book.
This series has been one of my favorite reads of 2015. I love that the author took the classic fairytale and put her own spin on it. In the end Christy Sloat created a fantablous, unique series sure to delight YA fans.
