I haven't been reading Cara's books in any particular order, and I just so happened to read this one (her first) after several of the other's. I have really enjoyed reading her other books, but felt that this one was just Ok. There were a lot of editing issues throughout which would easily have been caught and corrected. Also, while I could totally feel the sexual chemistry between Leah and Morgan, I didn't see anything substantial between them that could sustain a real relationship.
Leah McAllister is starting a new job in a bland maze of tan cubicles where she hopes to blend in with her surroundings – she’s had enough attention for one lifetime. What she never expects is to find herself working under Morgan, a mesmerizing woman who turned her world upside down when they met one year before.
A lot can change in a year, though, and Morgan Park is a different person now. She’s reserved and sullen, and trying to get over a broken heart that came with a heavy dose of guilt after her troubled girlfriend, Allison, disappeared one day leaving Morgan with nothing more than a vague goodbye note.
Thrust together in the cramped quarters of a cubicle, Morgan and Leah can’t deny – or resist – the forces of attraction driving them together. Morgan even begins to think she can find happiness again when Allison suddenly blows back into town with a terrible secret that threatens to tear Morgan and Leah apart permanently.
Is the mystery of Allison’s lost year enough to destroy Morgan and Leah’s budding relationship?
So, I read a lesbian romance. It’s not the kind of book I usually review, because normally I only read romance when my brain is feeling tired and I need to let it rest in some fluff. I was, however, pleasantly surprised with Cara Malone’s first full length book. Her characters are multi-faceted and relatable. The story itself is absorbing, well-written, and conscientious. It’s a comfortable mix of steam, heart, and conflict. The resolution is a little safe for my taste (I like a rowdy ending), but not so much that I felt the need to throw my eReader across the room. I will definitely look for more of Ms. Malone’s books.
What an amazing book, such drama but also a nice outcome ! I read it in one day, I look forward to reading more from this author and am looking forward to the sequel specially with Chelle ! Good work and thank you !
Morgan and Leah; work in the same company and together the ladies will fight their own skeletons in the closet.
Excellent reading, predictable and erotic.
