About the author

Svetlana Chmakova is an internationally published, award-winning manga/comics author, with more than 10 published books and her work translated into over 13 languages. Born and raised in Russia, she moved to Canada at sixteen years old to finish high school and trick Sheridan College into giving her a Classical Animation diploma.
Accidentally becoming a full-time artist and writer after that, Svetlana has drawn and written for animation, how-to-draw books, toy designs, and most of all, comics and manga. Her full-length manga/comics series include the fan-favorite romantic comedy "Dramacon", the award-winning urban fantasy "Nightschool: The Weirn Books", as well as the manga adaptation of the New York Times bestselling "Witch & Wizard" by James Patterson. Svetlana's most recent work is a middle grade comedy graphic novel called "Awkward", which has been honored as one of the Top 10 Graphic Novels of 2015 by School Library Journal.
Svetlana is currently being published/endured by Yen Press, and makes her home somewhere between Toronto, Canada and California. Her hobbies include eating, sleeping, buying far more books than she has shelf space, and riding the subway in the middle of the day, when it's half-empty, half-full of Very Interesting People.

I would LOVE a tutorial on HOW you draw the characters though! I'm trying to find a cartoony drawing style a lot like yours, and some pointers would be helpful -- thanks for reading this far if you've made it to this point!
I would also like to know if you have a youtube channel or TikTok I can follow for updates on things like this! This is probably just a random review you won't read, but I still needed to ask! Do you recommend any programs for learning to draw graphic novels? If so, I totally value your opinion. Anyway, I'd also like to mention:
I don't see any graphic novels by the point of view of a queer person. [Aside from Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy: A Modern Retelling of Little Women,] I would recommend writing about that for your next comic/graphic novel. I'm going to check out svletlania.com right after this, but anyways -- if you really do read this, I loved your WHOLE book, and I think it was ASTONISHING! This is so incredible to be writing and of course, a little mental to think you'd actually take the time to read it.
Anyway, if you've already made it this far, I am so happy! It's 11:12 PM on a Saturday, so uh- yEAh . . . if you're wondering why I'm still awake, and even more so why I'm writing a review on your book, it's explained with one word: "insomnia". Congrats, you're at the end of my "InCrEdIbLe" review of your astronomical book.
This is cool, I don't exactly understand what this does, I'm not sure the author will read this at all. This took I dunno -- twenty minutes to write? It's now 11:16 PM, not that literally anyone cares, but honestly I'm excited and my stomach hurts oW so sayonara, hon [this is in a gender~neutral way] :)
The book touches on topics of bullying, rivalry, even parent’s bullying and separation.

The only thing I would say is that the colors of the print is slightly too magenta but with a proper color presentation, this book is way up there with all the "famous" ones.
