“With the guiding belief that a home should be ‘a personal expression of your soul’, acclaimed designer and collector Axel Vervoordt creates timeless, restful spaces. Axel’s latest book – Portraits of Interiors published by Flammarion, which marks the 50th anniversary of the Axel Vervoordt Company – features 17 of his recently-designed projects, all private family homes. ‘Each place shows a lifestyle built around the owner’s family, created with their dreams in mind and based on the way they want to live,’ he says.
The design of each home – from a riverside home in Kerala to an Ibizan island retreat, a city palace in Antwerp and a country estate in Surrey – reflects its unique setting with a sense of serenity.” —The Home Page (thehomepage.co.uk)

I have one word to say for this designer (based on these photos): brown . Almost every residence seems to be under a layer of yellowing varnish...almost every room is brown or a variation thereof; nothing looks particularly inviting or light--which is what I appreciate in minimalism. Perhaps it's the fault of the photographet...but I doubt it.
