Also, and this is not directly a knock on the product, they are fairly small for those grocery store visits. These marketing photos would be more helpful were they taken while secured to a bicycle for perspective in sizing. I can get a loaf of bread, cheese, and some vegetables and a bit of fruit inside but not too much more.
This being said, they look decent, seem to be of decent quality fabric and the reflective stripe is appreciated.
Were I to choose again, I would opt for another product over these. What I thought I would prefer (the two sides being permanently attached to one another) I now see as a detriment. I would prefer a set of independent panniers with hooks for attaching to the rack as opposed to these hooked bungees. I'll keep them and get some use out of them but there were certainly better options for my situation.
The problem is easy to explain and, fortunately, easily fixed.
The rack has a reinforcing flat metal slat running across the top. Not all racks have this slat. Some just have the frame made of tubing. The pannier attaches, in part, with 4 velcro tabs - 2 in front, 2 in back. (There are also two bungee hooks, but they are not a problem.) Unfortunately, the velcro tabs need to be about an inch further apart to fit around the slat and attach to the rack's tube frame. In other words, the slat is an inch wider than the space between the tabs and thus in the way. It is not *impossible* to stretch the Velcro tabs around the slat, but it is difficult, the result does not look elegant, and that makes me wonder how secure it is. It is a classic case of the right hand not knowing what the left is doing. Bad design.
It is easily fixed with a stitch ripper, some black nylon carpet/button thread, and a little patience. Use the stitch ripper to get the velcro tabs off, and then re-sew them back on an inch further apart. Or you can do what I did and sew a nylon strap to loop over the front lip of the rack. Either will fix the problem.
But the problem should not exist to begin with. I should not have to retrofit a new product by the same manufacturer. Hence I am only giving the product two stars. Otherwise, the product seems decent enough for the price. If it were not, it would only get one star.
