This is a nice rack (always like saying that!) but the stays (legs) are too short to fit my bike - a Giant Cypress DX hybrid with 700mm tires. I ordered 2 of these, one black for my daughter's 26" Schwinn, and one silver for my Giant.

The rack is very lightweight but very strong, and it looks nice on the 26" bike, but because the stays are about 1" too short, it hits the tire on the 700cm bike. The stay length is advertised as 354mm, but it's more like 348mm to the bottom of the rack - it's simply too short to fit a 700mm diameter tire.

If you have a 26" bike, I can recommend this rack without hesitation, but it's too short to clear larger tires. I gave it 5 stars because it is a very good product, just doesn't work with my bike.

I bought this rack at a local bike shop and am very happy with the purchase. It is very light and is rated to hold 40kg/88lbs. This is significantly better than what I found at Dick's which was very heavy and mounted to the seat-post, didn't hold nearly as much weight, and was more expensive. They only sell the seat-post mounted racks at Dick's, I assume because the installation can be slightly tricky for this type.

You'll notice the mounting brackets in the picture.. check to see if your bike has holes for all four screws. Mine did not, but the bike shop I went to gave me some extra hardware to properly mount this rack to my bike.

I recently bought a '94 model Trek 730 from my local bike shop to commute on. I prefer my other (newer, comfy fat tires) bike, but my work has 'balked' about me bringing it inside in the last few months...so I needed a "dedicated commuter bike", that I could leave outside locked up. (no way I am locking up and leaving my $1000 fat tire jewel! I don't care how good a lock I could have bought!)

I took some black duct tape and covered all the bikes graphics, flat-black painted some Planet Bike full fenders, and then I mounted this rack. My goal was to make the bike look as "plain as possible" - dark green and flat black.

I chose this rack as the card that came with it shows 60 KG. that's a TON more carrying ability than most of the other racks I found on line or at the local shop.

The Trek is a 700cc bike - it mounted perfectly, even over the fenders I already had on there. The old Trek has braz-on's for both - separtately - so maybe that helps as I used the lower ones for the fenders and the higher ones for the Axiom Transit Rack.

Zip-tie-ing a milk crate is simple and fast (and cheap) and I don't mind burning a few zip-ties every time I want to throw the milk crate on. A Banjo Brothers market pannier fits great...and I've modded an old skateboard deck to zip tie onto this rack too. Why? because...small kids, even my wife can hop on for a ride - 60KG! that's a rack!

I love how my Trek has become a true work-horse since the rack was added. The fenders make it perfect to commute...but the rack makes it able to 'work.' So far I've not tried a full case of water bottles on it...but I've gotten that milk crate pretty full - with the pannier bag also on the rack...at least 75 pounds of groceries on this rack. No worries, no rattles, no problems.

I wanted simple, bomp-proof, and able to carry a person - even if I had to add a board for them to sit on....and I got it all with this rack. very happy with it.

First, I'll note that the rack fits over my 700 x 38c tire and my fender. Prior posters have had some discussion about this. The only hangup was that the reflector bracket would not work with the fender. I use lights on my belt and hat, so it's not an issue for me. Other than that, the rack came on time and complete. It had no directions. I have installed my own racks several times in the past and did not need instructions. I imagine even a newbie could install this simple unit, but it would be reassuring to have some help and the instructions might be needed.

The rack has a high capacity (60 kg). I have not loaded it that heavily, but I use two kitty-litter buckets as panniers. I have filled those with groceries more than once already and seen no sign of trouble. That amount of groceries weighs about 30 to 40 pounds (13 to 18 kg), and that is above the weight limits of most other racks in this price range.

I have noticed that the paint scratches easily. It's wise to be careful about that if appearance matters to you.

I didnt want to buy the cheapest rear rack nor the most pricey one. This one has a great weight capacity and is fairly light, the aluminum construction is nicely welded up and id buy again from this maker. From an engineering standpoint, it has 1: function and fitment (i strapped an igloo " ice cube " cooler on it n rode to beach, like 12 lbs) more than what i needed. 2: price-point : it was a few bucks more than bottom of the barrel one here on amazon but carries more capacity, meaning its better built. 3: it wont rust, aluminum doesn't rust like those cheap steel ones that weigh a ton.

This is very beautiful. Its as light as they say, and its quite strong. The surprise is that its so good looking. Its pretty enough for the cruiser, light enough for the road bike (Giant OCR), and strong enough for the tour bike. Amazing!

Great for the money! You do need to have the adapter piece for your seat post. Luckily the bike shop that installed mine had something that would work. It needs to be attached to the frame above the wheel, so make sure you have holes there. If not, you can drill them (the bike shop did it for me). It is very stable and holds all my groceries. So far I have only put about 50 pounds on it, but still strong and unmoved! Very happy with it, but probably couldn't have installed it myself and I am pretty darn handy.
