This book was very helpful for my week long trip to the Azores. There are useful appendices in the back detailing flora and fish native to the islands (this helped alot ordering fish in the restaurants!) There is also a good section on photography which I did not expect. Although, I am more accustomed to the format of lonely planet guides this one proved to be organized ok. Nice sections on walks and hiking trails. A bit lacking in the transport department but don't worry, the islands are small and cabs are affordable and easy to find.

Contained everything I needed for a 1-week trip to San Miguel. I appreciated the background information as much as the practical stuff.

The only drawbacks to this is the lack of good restaurant/hotel picks -- but I found that easily on tripAdvisor with lots of up to date info and reviews. This worked fine booking hotels ahead of time, and finding restaurants once we were there, since we had internet access. But without internet access, this book would have failed for such hotel/restaurant info.

My wife and inlaws are natives of Pico, Azores and I purchased this book as reference material for a upcoming family trip to Pico. We all found valuable information in the book and my inlaws even learned a few things they didn't know about their homeland. Well worth the money. Strongly recommend buying the Azores road map too.

Exactly as advertised; I highly recommend. This is a “hand crafted” travel guide which demonstrates an extraordinary and in depth knowledge of the Azores islands, their geology, oceanography, their flora/fauna, history, culture and peoples. In addition, it has all the needed practical stuff about hotels, restaurants, transportation, etc. that a traveler needs.

Its layout is logical and useful. I used this on a recent three-week trip to the Azores. I'm an experienced and demanding traveler. This Bradt Guide was much better than the competing guide books. Kudos!

Just buy it!

This is a great resource, very helpful for planning my trip to Sao Miguel. Great for planning my week! Highly recommend.

Downside: for a novice traveler, this did not cover basics like which electronic converters to purchase, or an in-depth understand of public transportation.
