The author clearly does not know anything about any of these cultures. He continually uses terms of race when discussing culture groups and discusses these groups in terms of barbarism and savagery. These ideas of unilineal evolution are harmful concepts and have been thoroughly dismissed in the scholarly literature for well over 50 years. In addition, the author continually injects categorically false ideas into text he likely copied. This book isn't just bad, it convolutes the stories and history of two continents. Find yourself a book that uses real sources instead of making them up or copying and pasting from Wikipedia. It's almost so bad I feel I need to report it. If you want a book that is similar to this subject but different because the text doesn't originate from someone pulling it out of their ass, I suggest "The Fate of Earthly Things: Aztec Gods and God-Bodies" by Molly H. Bassett
