To my surprise, the hot tub held its air and seems to work perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised by the good quality construction of this hot tub. So far, it's working great. The controls are laid out well. The inflatable tub seems very well made, and the floor of the tub is padded with extra padding in four seats. The manual is understandable and, at times, quite funny if English is your native tongue.
Other customers have noted that when you are using the hot tub it loses temperature. But, keep in mind, this is ONLY when you are using the bubble massage system. My wife and I love hot tubing, but rarely use the jets. We enjoy the hot water, soaking, good friends, and good conversation (oh and good wine/beer too). When you use the hot tub without the bubbles it does not appear to lose any temperature. We have used it for up to four hours without it losing a single degree of temperature. Nice.
When it comes to water chemistry, I treat the hot tub just like its bigger cousin, a full size hard hot tub. I bought test strips, chlorine granules, spa down, and crystal clear.
When I first fill the hot tub, I use hot water to give it a boast in heating. I shock the water by adding 1.5 tsp of chlorine granules pre-diluted once the tub is full. Then, the next day I add 1.5 cap fulls of crystal clear to clear the water since I'm using well water.
I test the water daily (because I'm still learning this tub) and then treat it with the appropriate chemicals. Usually, that's 1 tsp of chlorine granules pre-diluted every other morning. I have not used the spa down and only use the crystal clear once after filling.
The hot tub comes with two filters and only uses one at a time. So, I rotate in a clean filter every other day. Clean the one I take out and let it dry so it can go back into service in a day or two. You can go longer if you're not using the hot tub.
If you leave this hot tub setup all the time like we do, it is a bit of work. Very much like any full time hot tub. But, it's nice having it always ready to use.
So far, we are very happy with this purchase.
Oh, one last note. Most of the valve covers that are used on this hot tub are tethered to the tub so you can't lose them. Well, not the boston valve that hold the air in the air chamber. So, I promptly lost that valve cover on the very first deflation during a rainstorm. Dang. Anyway, it's a standard boston valve and I was able to use one from a float we tow behind our boat. West Marine and Amazon both sell them. You may want to get a spare. You look pretty ridiculous sitting in a deflated hot tub by yourself.
BUT, We did try it tonight for first time... WORKS GREAT....Nice!
I have had this spa for around 3 weeks, used it almost daily during that time. It arrived in just 3 days and the box although very dirty was intact. I was a little worried about ordering this spa after reading some of the negative reviews but the price dropped so I thought, lets give it a try. After all Amazon has such an amazing returns policy what could I lose ?
After unpacking the box I placed 10'x 10' sheet of thin plastic on my deck, on top of this 2 sheet 4'x8' of 2 inch blue foam from The Home Depot. Apparently this version is the LT model and does not come with a ground sheet of a spare filter. Just to be sure I covered the blue foam with a small, new tarp giving a nice insulated surface on which to inflate the spa. Using the internal pump inflation took just 10 minutes, a little adjustment to position the spa in the middle of the foam sheets and I started filling. Because I have a well, with just 45lb water pressure it took almost an hour to fill. I supplemented the very cold well water with buckets of hot water from the bathroom just to help raise the temperature of the well water. When the water reached the fill line I turned on the bubbles to check if they worked, then the filter and finally the heater. I zipped on the cover and left the spa heating for 12 hours, after which time the temperature had risen from 50F to around 86F a further 12 hours resulted in a temp of 99F which was just right for me ( I have since managed to reach 101F on a nice sunny day with the heater going ).
Great price, just the right size for two people, well put together, cover works well ( I have since purchased a Homax inflatable spa accessories round pillow 4-person hot tub spa cover , this fits perfectly and helps hold in the heat over night so I only lose a few degrees ). Bubbles work well, exceeded my expectations after reading some of the reviews. The zipper on the cover looks to be strong and time will tell how it stands up. The bubbles cut off after 30 minutes but within just 15 minutes I was able to start them again. All in all I am very pleased with this model.
No real cons but a few things that would make this Spa perfect are a tray for drinks and all Spas should come with an inflatable Homax like cover as this is truly a great help in conserving heat.
Update (5-30-2016) now almost a year later and the tub is working well, i packed it away during our -20F winters here in Maine and just recently commissioned it for this years use. after 24 hours it hit 104F with no trouble and the filter and bubbles are working well. The zip on the cover is holding up very well. Still very happy with this spa...
Update (8-3-2016) Well into the season and i have been using this hot tub almost every evening, still maintains an average 100-104F temperature. Bubbles working well, Electric costs are hardly noticeable on my monthly bill !
Update (06-1-2017) Late start to the season here in Maine , this spa is still performing like new. I have found that the heating costs are minimal at around $15-$20 a month, i keep the outside clean with a plastic's UV protection spray sold by Amazon
Other than that i still 100% recommend this product
