My first thought when getting this book was, "this is just a list of B-17s" and maybe not worth what I paid. But after looking through it I decided that an amazing amount of research went into this book, and it's worth the asking price. If you're looking for a bunch of nice color pictures, this isn't the book for you. But if you want a very detailed listing of aircraft and their nose art, then you'll be as pleased as I now am.

Many thanks to Mr Forman for this cross reference book. A "must own" book for those who want to be informed about B-17 bombers. I purchased it to try and find out if there was a photograph out there of a doomed B-17 my uncle's crew had to run a mission in when their own B-17 was in for repairs. I found out there was not a photo saving me much time.

It may be my fault, but I thought this book was going to have a lot of photos of actual B-17 nose art. Although it has some photos of B-17 nose art, it is more useful if you know a particular B-17's name and are trying to find out which Squadron, Group, and aircraft serial number that name was associated with.
