Experienced author Peter Davies spends two thirds of his narrative on the long development period of the B-58. Not surprisingly, there is an emphasis on the many technological challenges overcome by the final aircraft. This reader was interested in the description of SAC alert procedures, and stunned by the misadventures associated with the development of proper ejection seats. The book includes a variety of excellent period photographs, and color plates of aircraft configurations. Well recommended to students of the history of the U.S. Air Force.
The book correctly tells the story of the B-58 and it’s short life ,not because all the incorrect negativity ,but of politics by the Air Force and Congress.
