BAD RAP (A Rollie Kemp Novel Book 4) is a detective book that has so many layers and characters it is sure to keep your attention.

Detective Rollie Kemp is trying to take a vacation after a horrible case. He has invited Deputy Joan Travis to visit to further investigate a relationship. This subplot filtrates through the entire story.

The main point of the story is Rachel, the 17-year-old sister of Buck Wardell, has tracked Rollie down to help her. She says that her brother has a bad rep and that is what landed him in prison. She shows evidence that leads Rollie and Joan to believe that Rachel is correct, so they follow the lead. What they did not expect, was that the case was way bigger then it first appears.

BAD RAP (A Rollie Kemp Novel Book 4) has three plots that intertwine together. Rollie and Joan get deep into a trafficking ring of drugs and weapons that involve high ranking FBI agents, police officers, the Cartel and many more. Rollie and Joan find themselves in harms way on a couple of occasions and have to visit the hospital at least twice. Can they save the day? Will their budding romance survive? Does Buck get out of prison being falsely accused? Who dies?
I was given BAD RAP (A Rollie Kemp Novel Book 4) by the author for an honest review.

A good read if you like action, adventure. A plot-driven novel with lots of action. Character development is especially good for a plot-driven novel. Setting is Los Angeles, Hollywood, California environs, obviously written by someone who knows the area well. Lots of details introduced in a condensed, natural flow that doesn't detract. Main characters are developed in depth while other characters are sketched with some memorable brush strokes. Film settings and Hollywood culture add to interest. Plot is intricate, many twists and turns, and surprises. Clues are faithfully given. Adult content but descriptions are neither erotica nor porn. A firm knowledge of police procedure, of interactions among government agencies, and of the drug scene.

A good read.

There are few books written about Hollywood that actually resonate with reality. For the most part they are either too cynical or far too complimentary and for that reason I usually steer clear of them. But this book was a great read. The plots move at a really good pace that shows the author respects his audience. The two main plots are on a collision course and are brilliantly brought together and much of that is because the characters are so well developed. There is a huge amount of research that has gone into the book that I always enjoy. The author brought in enough detail for me to believe that these characters just might be real, Rollie Kemp is certainly someone you might find wandering in to the Van Nuys police department.

Rollie Kemp plans to have a visit from new lady, Joan Travis, Sheriff's deputy from South Carolina, when a young girl wants him to help her brother get out of prison, falsely convicted of murder. An older brother had done the actual murder and set the kid brother up. That older brother was one Rollie and Joan had shot dead on a case in South Carolina. There is a third brother in the mix, one crazy as a loon. They were the Wardells.

Throw in some thumb drives the kid had copied that detailed an extensive drug ring, routes into the country, crooked cops and politicians involved that made for a big package.

The crooks wanted it back. They knew the government had part of it, taken when Bobby Wardell had been killed by Rollie. They didn't know what they had. A CIA officials baby daughter was taken with threats to kill her if those thumb drives weren't returned.

Rollie and Joan have two things to do as the cases overlap: find the proof to free the only honest Wardell and rescue the baby.

Plenty of action highlight this fast paced novel. Quite enjoyable
