The scope itself seemed pretty sighted in out of the box at least for me. Nice solid construction feel to it and easy to adjust windage and elevation knobs. Mine seems nice and crisp and in focus at all ranges. Yea if your on 9x and look at something too close it will be blurry. The lens caps are 2 hard plastic caps tied together by elastic cord so right now they stay on great but who knows a few years from now when the elastic dries out. the Caps aare clear - one being clear and the other having a yellowish tint to it. I guess its like some anti glare cap (if its not it does a damn good job at it...)but at 7-9x with the caps on it does get fuzzy looking.
Overall i am pretty impressed with it at the price i got it for off of here. Sure its not a $200+ scope but its nowhere near a piece of junk either...
Was able to site it at the 50 yard range with 15-20 rounds; DEAD ON! Also shot at 75 and 100 after sighting with very good accuracy.
Have since sent 100+ rounds down the pipe without issue.
Well worth the money. Buy one....if it's anything like mine, you won't be disappointed.
The Barska gives me a much clearer, brighter picture and a lot more magnification. It fits the Model 60's dovetail mounting grooves fine and zeroing was easy; just twist the knobs. It's still early going, but early impressions are very good. It looks mighty nice and impressive on this rifle. It's a great, accurate, reliable old piece, but I may have to refinish the stock so the gun doesn't feel embarrassed.
I was a little put off by reviews complaining about poor mounts and a smell. Maybe they improved the mounts, because these seem fine to me. Far better than the ones on the scope that came with the rifle, and those did the job adequately. As for the smell; I get what people are referring to. I don't find it all that strong or objectionable. It smells like a new tire to me. No doubt it will fade with time.
On the Model 60, the tightening knobs (fingers, coin, or screwdriver) do get a little in the way of the charging handle. Still workable, but slightly annoying. I plan to reverse the mounts so these knobs are on the left instead of the right.
