The first major sea battle of WWII in the Pacific. The US Asiatic Fleet joined with three allied fleets to face up to the powerful Imperial Japanese Navy. It was no contest. The allied fleet was wiped out. This film by Dutch Film director, Niek Koppen is a superb documentary of this sacrificial battle. It is the winner of a Golden Calf Award and many other awards. The film "The Last Stand of the USS Houston (Death Becomes The Ghost)" is an important companion to this film. The INJ effectively removed the expected support of the US Navy from PearlHarbor. The Asiatic Fleet and its Dutch, British and Australian Allies were left alone, outgunned, with older ships and no air support. Distribution of this film in the United States is by Buzz Creek (Grade-A Media). More about this film and the history can be found at www.usshouston.org. Other titles from Buzz Creek are available at www.buzzcreek.com. "The Last Stand of USS Houston" is a companion title that adds more information to the epic story. See the Buzzcreek.com site for special offer of combined set of "Last Stand" and "Java Sea".
