About the author

Gretchen Rubin is one of today’s most influential and thought-provoking observers of happiness and human nature.
Her previous books include the #1 New York Times bestseller THE HAPPINESS PROJECT, as well as the bestselling books BETTER THAN BEFORE, HAPPIER AT HOME, THE FOUR TENDENCIES, and OUTER ORDER, INNER CALM. Her latest book is LIFE IN FIVE SENSES.
She’s the host of the popular, award-winning podcast "Happier with Gretchen Rubin," where she and her co-host (and sister) Elizabeth Craft explore strategies and insights about how to make life happier. As the founder of The Happiness Project, she has helped create imaginative products for people to use in their own happiness projects.
She has been interviewed by Oprah, eaten dinner with Nobel Prize-winner Daniel Kahneman, walked arm-in-arm with the Dalai Lama, had her work reported on in a medical journal, been written up in the New Yorker, and been an answer on Jeopardy!
Gretchen Rubin started her career in law, and she realized she wanted to be a writer while she was clerking for Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. Raised in Kansas City, she lives in New York City with her family.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2016I'm a huge fan of Gretchen Rubin's books so jumped at the opportunity to read a collection of her best blog posts in one place. I wasn't expecting anything earth-shattering here since I devour every book Rubin writes, but since I don't always get the chance to keep up with her blog, there were definitely a few great reminders here.
As always, Gretchen Rubin's writing is honest, down-to-earth, and just all around fun.
If you've never picked up her books (I particularly recommend The Happiness Project and Better Than Before), this is a great little introduction to her work. If you've read all of them (like me), this is a great recap of some of her biggest overarching themes, that you can read in an hour or two. For the price, it's definitely a great find!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2021I am a big fan of Gretchen Rubin and was excited to find another book of hers I didn’t even know existed. Loved these little snippets of wisdom and whimsy.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2016As a huge fan of Gretchen Rubin's work, when she announced this ebook I purchased it right away. The Best of the Happiness Project Blog is a fun, informative, and inspiring collection of Gretchen's 38 best blog posts. It is nice to have the posts all together instead of reading through her whole blog. I think this book has something for the avid, daily reader of Gretchen's blog as well as the novice.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2020I'm disappointed with this one. There were some typos and Gretchen had concepts that she repeats in multiple blog posts, which are repeated in the book... As in, the exact same sentence is written in back to back entries in the book. I was hoping for great new content. Disappointing.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2016I always feel uplifted, whether I'm reading, listening, or watching Gretchen Rubin. I particularly enjoy the podcast, Happier, that she does with her sis, Elizabeth. They're both a force for good in this world, and I look forward to whatever is to come next. I bought this book and preordered her 2017 page-a-day calendar.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2016Wonderful collection of all the best from Gretchen Rubin. I've been slowly catching up with Gretchen's writings via her blog and particularly love her writings on moderation versus abstinence (I'm an abstainer!!) This collection is a perfect way to get all the high points in a quick read. As always, love her voice, her dry wit and self-deprecating 'realness.' Great Read!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2016I LOVED this book. I had already read The Happiness Project and Happier at Home, but this book of quick read chapters is chock full of interesting anecdotes, ideas and strategies anyone can make use of. So much to think about and apply in moving towards a happier
lifestyle.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2017I have been listening to Gretchen's podcast, so some of these were repeats, but it always sinks in more when I read it and hear it.

Gretchen has done it again. She's managed to choose important pieces from her blog to work cohesively to tell the story of our habits and how they influence our lives. Her passion for and pursuit of the subject of happiness is contagious. Gretchen has spent an incredible amount of time pondering human nature and behaviour or thought patterns. I've never read a book of Gretchen's that hasn't left me feeling enriched by the experience and this book was no exception. Keep on doing your great work in this world! Your gift is truly needed by all.
Amazon CustomerReviewed in the United Kingdom on December 7, 20241.0 out of 5 stars waste of time and money
This is literally just blog post from her website copied and pasted into a book, most of which have been referenced in some way in the happiness project. I gave up after 5 minutes having seen it all before. What a waste of time and money - I really don’t have enough free time be be wasting it on regurgitated material.
