Optimal Use / Precautions:Converts DC power in your 12V batteries in your car, truck, boat or any other DC power sources into the AC power that home appliances, electronics and tools need.
Always tighten the Positive (+) and Negative (-) terminals when the inverter is in use otherwise a loose connection can overheat due to poor contact.
Always make sure that the total rated power of the connected devices is less than 400W.
Avoid placing the inverter in a location that receives prolonged direct sunlight or near to heat sensitive materials as the inverter can become warm during use.
If the rated input of any connected AC devices exceed 150W use the included battery clamps to directly connect to your vehicle’s battery as most vehicles 12V ports are rated and fused for 150W.

To calculate watts for AC: watts= pf x voltage x amps
Pf for resistive loads 1: this would be a simple motor
Pf for inductive loads average .8 mostly electronic loads or inductive motors.
So far so good. I got this, ran out to my truck, plugged it into the 12v outlet and hooked up my Coleman mattress air pump. Turned it on and away it went. It is not overly large at 6 inches long a little over 4 inches wide and 1.5 inches tall.
Comes with battery clips that have a 22 inch cord and a 12v outlet plug that is 24 in long. It has 4 USB outlets which 3 are 2.4 amps and 1 is 1 amp.
I will update after a few months of use.
Update: 10/21/15 I have used this about 20 times now. At least 10 of those were out on the boat when I needed to air up and down the tow-able tube. This is such a nice setup. I got a cheap little bag to keep everything in. I have also used it for running a stereo off of my diesel truck batteries while out camping. Used it for a running a small air compressor and to run some lights to fix our 4 wheeler out in the dark while out camping and few other things. I am still highly impressed with this little power packed device.
Still works great. I do keep it ina little bag. This thing always rides in my truck now unless it's boating season. Then it still gets used out on the boat.
Packaging: Came in a fairly boring box, well packaged and wrapped.
Build Quality: Seems very solid and well built. Has a nice weight to it. Seems like it can "take a hit". AC plugs are tight as are the USB ports. High quality alligator clamps and wires. (I didn't test the cigarette lighter). Love that it ha ring terminals so you can DIY your own wires and such.
AC Inverter Usage: To test I went ahead and plugged in what I purchased a 400W inverter for. To run my 350W heat gun. I go to Burning Man and I bring the heat gun for shrink wrapping soldered wire. I connected volt meter to the terminals to watch the voltage as I did my load test. I plugged connected the ring terminals to the posts on the inverter, put the big alligator clips on my new flooded deep cycle 155Ah battery and switched it on. The fan came on instantly. It's not too loud and seems like a quality fan. You can definitely hear it though. I then plugged in the heat gun and switched it on. The green light on the inverter didn't dim or so much as flinch. The heat gun heated up just as fast as being plugged into mains. I watched the voltage drop from 13.6 or so (just took it off the charger) all the way down to about 12.1v under this load as I let the heat gun run for about 5 min. It stayed at 12.1v for the last min or so before I turned it off. Success! During the 5 min run time I think the fan slowed down a little bit in the inverter as it seemed like it spun back up a bit after I turned off the heat gun. I couldn't hear the inverter fan while the heat gun was running. The air the fan pushed out of the inverter never got warm, and the bottom of the inverter also never got warm.
USB usage: This was a big surprise for me. The inverter doesn not have to be powered on for the USB ports to work. This is a HUGE plus for me. However, since the USB ports are ready to go even when the inverter is switched off, this means that it will draw a little bit of power from the battery even when it's not in use. This can be overcome with a high load switch or something. The unit has 4 USB ports. 2 of them are 2.1A one is "Auto" 0 to 2.1A and one is 1A. This totals 7.3A if they are all in use. This tells me that you can't plug even 3 devices into the unit and expect them to all work. You can probably do 2x 2.1A devices, and something in the 1A port or something in the "Auto" port and they should all work. But 4 devices at once may not work at all or it might give a little trickle to the "Auto" port. Another nice surprise was that this was able to charge my 8" Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2! This tablet is VERY picky about what it will charge off of. Oddly it would only charge the tablet off the "Auto" port. None of the other ones worked. My smart phone however didn't care what port it plugged into. They all would charge it.
Bottom line, if you are looking for a inverter with USB ports that can run without the inverter being on, and at least a solid 350W of AC power, this one seems like the one to get. I think it's also wrapped up in an attractive and well built little box.
A few notes: The USB ports also worked while the inverter was powered on. With my phone plugged into the 2.1A port sometimes when I plugged the tablet in to another port the phone would stop charging for a split second and then start again. I didn't try the USB ports while I had the heat gun running, but I would imagine it wouldn't be a problem. As long as the power source can handle the load.
Thanks for reading. I hope you find this review helpful.
The unit itself runs quietly and pretty cool. I have it installed in an enclosed compartment and driving in the summer heat I am not worried in the least running this at close to 75% capacity. The USB outlets are a great addition as well.
All in all, I love this inverter and the ability it gives me to run AC appliances off of DC power.
