I bought a dozen of these little square plates and I use them constantly. Who knew? They are small but the right size for a little snack, a cookie, a teabag, a coaster, appetizers, spoon rest, a little bread plate, a dipping plate, the list goes on. I use these plates everyday and more than once during the day. They are real workhorses. I love the lip because it keeps whatever is one there self-contained. They are in and out of the dishwasher all day long and they stack on themselves very nicely.

I wanted a few plates to showcase small appetizers and these are perfect. They are 4.5 inches x 4.5 inches. They stack nicely for storage, but stack them carefully as they will chip or break from heavy handling. I would recommend hand washing them rather than the dishwasher as the clanking of glass together in a tightly packed dishwasher may be too much. They are small anyway, so it's not much work.

The plates arrived quickly and are exactly as pictured. I am a happy customer and will definitely order more in the future.

I picked up a set of these on sale many years ago from somewhere and used them on the buffet or appetizer table for small cheese rounds, etc. Eventually they drifted to the back of the drawer, and somehow, we didn't miss them. One day, after a frenzy of re-arranging everything, I put these small dishes into the drawer with the everyday dishes and over time, we found ourselves using them. Often. Not only for serving appetizers at gatherings, but also for serving ourselves lunch. Yes. They're small. That's the idea. Snacks for the children, perfect. Appetizers, perfect. Baked egg in a toast cup, perfect. Tea sandwiches, perfect. A few steamed shrimp with a dab of dip, perfect. We prepare our own Sashimi (raw, diced fish in sauce), really perfect. They're even useful for food storage (flat, cut surface of produce meets flat, clean surface of dish -- air-tight, no plastic wrap required). And as we've found we now use them so often, we're adding to the set. Porcelain is always a good buy. It presents beautifully, doesn't stain, cleans easily and is solid. Perfect!

These are the perfect size for a couple of slices of cheese and crackers or a couple of hot Hors d' oeuvres. They are nicely made and clean easily. Be sure to rack the properly in a dishwasher as they are small and need good support.

I really like the shape and heft of these small plates. Be aware, however, that they are really very small and are not appropriate for most appetizer situations. I have found them more useful as small bread plates (don't take up much room on the table but allow guests to put bread on a separate surface from their dinner plate) or for serving small portions of dessert. They are also handy for snacks when you don't want to mess up larger plates. They are useful - but not in the way I had planned when I bought them. I went ahead and purchased larger sized 6x6 square porcelain plates to use for appetizers.

These small shallow plates are perfect for rolls, cake, anything small, or heck, even as attractive coasters. I have a new white sink and one of these is perfect for setting the sponge on. They are hard baked and don't break easily. Well worth having.

I actually purchased these to use as cat food dishes, since I know cats do not like their whiskers to touch the side of a bowl when they eat. Well, in theory that's great, but these really didn't work for that purpose. If I put wet food on them, the kitties just push half of it onto the floor as they eat it - ha! But they are very very nice quality plates and I can use them for appetizers or something else.
