I bought this pen from Office Depot and this pen changed my writing comfort standards. Until discovering this pen, mont blanc bold ballpoint used to be my favorite. but ever since i have been using this pen all the way. It is impossible to expect such performance from this simple pen but it really rocks.

You can also take 1.6 refill out and use with your favorite round stick barrel. They fit eachother perfect.

Overall, this is a must-have pen for everyone.

these are my favorite pens. I have tendinitis and it get's aggrevated when pressing hard wile writing. I hva found these pens write so smooth that I have no pain. I origally bought them at Staples, but they quit selling them. I searched until I found them on Amazon.com. in fact I brag on how these pens are great to my co-workers, and they only realize it's true when they have used it at my desk. I wish I can find them locally, but lucky for me, I found them here.

I have always loved a simple pen that writes smooth and extra bold without smear or leaking ink. This is the pen that foots the bill. Ordered 2 boxes and plan to order more. And above all..The price is right!

I love these pens. Use a pad or more paper under whatever you're writing on, because the sensation is dreamy. These glide so smoothly and make your handwriting better, as the thickness of the line evens out imperfections and reduces the scrawly-ness of your handwriting. The sound of a fine-tipped pen scratching over the paper seems abrasive to me. These pens gently slide along whatever you're writing on, leaving an impression that's not too wet, but just right.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the BiC Cristal is the most popular pen in the world. It has sold over 100 hundred BILLION units (as of Sept 2006) - selling at a rate of over 57 pens per second! The BiC Cristal is so popular that it holds a place within the permanent collection inside New York's Museum of Modern Art.

Part of its success is surely due to its lengthy history which stretches all the way back to 1950 - when Marcel Bich was able to create an ink that neither leaked nor clogged (which was no simple task). But, how does the BiC Cristal stack up today? In my pen-obsessed mind, it is a classic - but is now average. I believe that the Cristal Ballpoint continues to be popular because it is familiar, extremely cheap, disposable, & does write smoothly. The clear, hard plastic body gives it a recognizable look, but it is not the most consistent. The Cristal's line goes down quite smoothly but leaves small gaps, streaks, & tiny blotches of ink that smear even after being left to dry for 10 seconds. Unfortunately, it is the type of pen that will leave you scratching the tip in order to start the flow of ink. But, as long as the BiC Cristal stays cheap, recognizable, & feeling smooth, it will continue to be a popular choice and cement its place in history as the world's best selling pen.

These BiC's, which made their first American appearance in 1959, were designed exceptionally if not bizarrely well. And I don't mean in a quaint, historical way. These pens respect principles of space, form, structure, density, and gravity. Because of their hexagonal shape, they require minimal plastic while also retaining a surprising strength (try snapping one), and the hexagonal grip points give the pens impressive writing stability. A tiny hole drilled in the barrel's body keeps the air pressure the same both inside and outside the pen. Gravity feeds the thick ink down a tube to a free-spinning ball bearing that was manufactured within a fraction of a micron of accuracy. The result is that when the pen is pressed against paper, the ink slides out cleanly and, well,... perfectly. It's not only one of the most inexpensive pens, it's also probably the most efficient pen, with a single pen able to write over 100,000 words (or about 2 novels). A true masterpiece of design. I'm not the only one who thinks so. They have their own exhibit in the Museum of Modern Art.

This particular pen is a slight variation on the original, with a slightly wider foundation and using slightly more ink (hence the "Bold"). It's still great, you just probably wouldn't be able to write 2 novels with it.

Most people have memories of using Cristal (FYI Amazon your Item Description is misspelled!) pens in school, at least in the US. I used to love the 1.0mm size and I've heard about the "Bold" 1.6mm size so when I needed a Filler Item and Amazon suggested a dozen of these, I figured why not? These are almost exactly as I remembered them, but the barrel of the pen is more Brownish than clear. And that tip is HUGE!! So, how does it write? Well as expected, due to the huge ball size it's going to be smooth, and BIC says this has their "Easy Glide" system which makes it even more smooth, I guess. I'm giving this 4-Stars only because this is a Ballpoint pen, and lately my tastes have trended towards Gels/Rollerballs. But, the next time I use Ballpoints this pen will be in the mix!
