Product Description

The Big O the Complete Collection contains episodes 1-26. Forty years ago, the minds of Paradigm City's inhabitants were wiped clean of all recollections of the past. Now, ruled by a powerful corporation and cut off from the rest of the world by desolate wastelands, Paradigm has become a virtual police state where Negotiators like Roger Smith keep the wheels of progress, commerce, and society turning. - As a combined hybrid of detective, mediator, and enforcer, Smith's primary resource is his keen, analytical mind, but it doesn't hurt to have a mansion filled with gadgets, his butler Norman, and his attractive assistant Dorothy to fall back on. Additionally, for those times when cases end up "in dispute," he also has the biggest, baddest back-up that any cop or small army could ever hope for: the Big O, a giant robot loaded with all the extras. Film noir thriller meets mecha mayhem masterpiece as the acclaimed classic series returns in the complete collection of The Big O!

Big O was a big part of my early anime Fandom before I even knew what anime truly was if you like noir/mecha you'll like this series.

The Big O is one of the most slept on animes period. Part Batman, part Gundam, all classic.

The blu-ray looks and sounds great. It arrived promptly with prime.

The only minor annoyance I have with The Big O Collection is the theme music. It's not the intro you heard on Toonami in 2001, it's a weird knock off Kinks track. It's possible this was the original Japanese intro music, but it's strange to old school American viewers.

Overall, everyone should pick this up.

Looks fantastic, Sentai Film Works (SFW) out did themselves with this piece. I remember having a mental cliffhanger with this anime cause I was very little when Big O aired in Toonami, and it always had a very late night air time. So, naturally being a kid with a parental curfew I could only sometimes sneak to watch an episode. This anime was my first big mecha anime, the other being Zoids-Chaotic Century (don't judge). However by watching random and sometimes reruns of Big O, I really had a jumbled map of the story in my brain. When I saw SFW do a Bluray release of Big O, now as an adult, the memories of watching the anime in segments filled my mind with intrigue, and wanting to support anime distribution platforms I decided to get it. Boy has it not disappointed one bit, great characters, intriguing story arch and wow that ending hit the meta algorithm in my mind. To sum it up, if you wanted it cause of nostalgia or cause you were always curious, I can vouch it won't disappoint. It plays great and looks fab! Deserves the 5 stars all around. Have a great day everyone!

I hadn't seen this anime since I was a kid. It was a show I loved and now I could watch the entirety of it and piece together the show I loved but never could watch all of. Its a straightforward blue-ray dvd. Old tech, but I'm still a sucker for hard copies. The show is great, and the product was worth having the show at my fingertips whenever I want to watch it.

This is one of the classic anime shows from the late 90’s. It’s getting harder and harder to find a good properly balanced anime that I can share with my dad. I say that because most of all the new anime has too much unnecessary fan service. The shows are good but the unnecessary fan service makes it unenjoyable for some viewers.
This anime is great. It has that Bruce Wayne / Batman feel to it but with a giant robot mech lol. Has very good voice acting and it catches your interests right away.
Now,...for the re-release review. Kind of disappointed. This is the Complete series on blu ray only. No dvd/blu ray combo. There’s no widescreen conversion. Just the regular square 4:3 ratio I believe but definitely no 16:9 or just widescreen format. For blu ray I would’ve thought they do that conversion. Looks like they just recorded the original series straight to blu ray discs. It’s just English audio only. No subtitles option or Japanese audio options at all. Makes me wonder if someone just used someone’s recordings from TV when it was are on toonami or adult swim. No I’m case inserts (which is like missing or not there for 95% of the time for all dvd/blu ray releases) seems the people packing and setting up the contents just leave them out like they’re dumbfounded as to what the extra contents are for and just throw them away.
Overall, this blu ray collection is worth the buy. But not above $40 - $50. The show is two decades old and it doesn’t have anything extra to warrant such a pricey hike. All they did was transfer the series from another source and that’s it. No media combo, no second audio option, no subtitles. How does the hearing impaired get to know what’s going on if they can’t read anything? 3 stars because they dropped the balls on the re-release that deserved better attention.

I had watched the show years ago on the Cartoon Network, and I looked forward to buying the blu-ray disks to own. I have watched all the episodes since I acquired the disks, and they all played without a problem. I don’t believe that there are English subtitles, and the set is pricey. I am happy with the purchase.
