Bissell’s Steam Mop Select features a two-sided, flip mop head that allows you to clean twice as much floor before changing the mop pad. Additionally, Bissell has included two distinctly different mop pads with the Steam Mop Select. One pad is soft for use on delicate flooring such as hardwoods and laminates. The other pad has built-in scrubbing strips that make cleaning tough, stuck-on messes easy. The Bissell Steam Mop Select delivers the steam right where you need it, at the floor. It has a static steam manifold that allows the mop head to rotate around it; ensuring the powerful steam is always directed straight to the floor. The Bissell Steam Mop Select is designed to give you an easier, more effective clean, while saving you time so you can get back to doing what you like most.

Fast forward a bit and I decide it's now time to clean my floors again. I plug it in, wait a bit, then start mopping. About ten minutes later I realize the floor doesn't seem to be getting the least bit wet and I'm not hearing the steam sound when I press and release the handle. That's when I notice that water keeps running down the side from the safety valve. Then PUFF, a cloud of steam comes out - the side, not the bottom - and POOF, my mop is dead! Two uses was all I got! Well, not even two ... maybe 1 1/2. Do yourself a favor and save your money, time, and sanity. Pass this one up!
I squeezed the trigger at the top of the handle and heard a strange ticking noise coming from the mop. It turned out this was the water working its way down and the noise ceased after a few moments. Squeezing the trigger is what heats the water, thus producing the steam. After mopping for a minute or so, I realized the trigger mechanism is one of the flaws preventing this from being the ideal steam mop. Your hand becomes fatigued and I find myself switching hands frequently in order to continue using the device. An On/Off switch would be a far more desirable option for this mop.
This device did work well on the tile I cleaned. Very little water is left on the tiles which are steam cleaned, allowing them to air dry in a matter of minutes. I noticed no residue or film on the dried tiles, and there is no doubt they looked far better after having used the steam mop. The grout between the tiles appeared virtually untouched, but that did not come as a surprise. We own a tile scrubber as well, and even with the rotating bristles of that device, the grout often needs more attention.
In comparison the tile scrubber that we own, I would choose the Bissell Steam Mop over it. They take an equal amount of time to use, both provide comparable cleanliness, yet with the Bissell there are no chemicals to purchase, thus giving it the upper hand. Though one of the things I enjoy most after using the tile scrubbing chemicals is the clean SMELL which accompanies the now clean floor. I'll have to read the manual a bit more thoroughly and see if I can put a bit of Lysol or other product in with the water to produce the same effect. If a newer model of this were to have an On/Off switch over the trigger, I would give this a higher rating yet.
