I have painted many items with it in the last few weeks and I can say with confidence that it does not have the affect that the website and marketing material show. It is indeed a very, very flat black paint. However, the proclaimed illusion of "the void of light" and flattening of a 3D object is false (see photos).

Black is all the colors and white is the absence of color. If you have ever painted a wall before, you know that your base color pretty much dictates how light or dark the following cost is going to be, a light colored wall to be painted with darker paint will need multiple coats in order the true paint color to show, and vice versa.
Attached are pictures to demonstrate this. the base material is black to begin with, so you figure this would just turn matte black, looking at the lens hood, the best color description for this paint is charcoal grey, its matte in the sense that it is flat, but black, off by a mile....it is still reflective still and reflects the color spectrum that it does not absorb.
Overhyped claim, officially the worst $20 I have ever wasted on Amazon. Go look elsewhere.

The trick is to absorb ALL the light falling on the surface of the paint. This paint did not do this for me.
The closest thing to this end (non reflective black) is a well made black velvet cloth.
I am giving it five stars (assuming it holds) because I would like the optomistic minds to see this information. It is actually a negative five stars.
This is probably the blackest paint you’ve ever seen, until Black 3.0. So I’m going to rag and brag on both Black 2.0 and Black 3.0 now. Black 2.0 looks gray compared side-by-side with 3.0. But 3.0 is awful to work with, in my opinion. The best thing to do is prime whatever you want to paint using Black 2.0 and put a top coat of 3.0 on it. Even then, sometimes the 3.0 tends to have whitish- I don’t know what- like, residue lines on it. I can’t explain, it’s like maybe the water I diluted with was contaminated (but I use DI water, and clean my brushes with DI) or it leached something out of the object. Anyway, with enough fuss you can get the thing coated, but not with the same joie de vivre as Black 2.0. And a dab of 3.0 will not have anywhere near the same coverage as 2.0. BTW, you can tell that Black 2.0 and 3.0 are totally different fundamentally, not just a tweak in the recipe, by how they clean up. A molecule of Black 2.0 will turn your whole sink black, but 3.0 cleans up easily.
I tried thinning it with a little water as is recommended when painting with Citadel paints, I tried using it without thinning, I tried 2 thin coats, I tried 3 thin coats, I tried 2 uncut coats, and nothing changed the depth of the black or how matte it is.
It's an interesting effect (thus 2 stars not 1) but it is definitely NOT the black that is advertised.
Oh, and it does smell of cherries which is... odd.
The value of darkness is definitely noticeable--even from afar. I can't wrap my head around how somebody could have gotten a gray-ish sculpture in another review because this stuff is truly black af.
I cannot WAIT to make more paintings with this stuff! I'm also really looking forward to trying 3.0 when it comes out!
Fortunately for my needs, this totally works. So, I'm pretty happy with it. My needs are not everyone's needs though, so your mileage may vary.

In the photo:
You can see the Black 2.0 with a small square of speedball at the bottom left. The only difference between the two, excluding price, is that I can barely see the brush strokes in the speedball. I put some clear acrylic over the Black 2.0 and it went very black but of course is now shiney. You can see that at the top of the stroke.
So, overall it's a bust. It's a good matt black but meh.

The paint itself is excellent!
