I've own many irons throughout the years and this one has truly exceeded my expectations.

The BLACK and DECKER D2030 Auto-Off Digital Advantage Iron has quick heat up which works super quick! The auto shut off is nice which gives me peace of mind if I get interrupted during my ironing. It has a easy push button selection of temperatures.

There is ample bursts of steam. This iron makes ironing more of a pleasure than a chore which is a refreshing change!

The super smooth surface of the iron glides over clothes like its on a cushion of air. The weight of the iron is perfect whereas I don't have to keep going back and forth to get the wrinkles out, I just have to press the area once or twice. This iron even works great on stubborn wrinkles.

I've cleaned it a few times after ironing patches and it's still looking and working great.

This iron has honestly helped me to reduce the time it takes me to iron in half which allows me to spend more time with my family.

My wife and I love this iron. We've been using this for a couple years now and it's still going strong. We like the digital setting screen that lights up and beeps when it has reached the requested temp. The water port is simple and secure with a silicone gasket that doesnt leak. The only times we've seen water come out of the iron is when we've layer it flat on the ironing board overnight. All of the water leaches out of the ironing plate area and soaked our board. Not a big deal since we normally store it upright. The steam out of this thing is awesome and the sole plate is high quality. The iron has good weight to it that feels good in the hands, not flimsy and glides over the clothes smoothly. If this ever dies on us we will be replacing with this one again without hesitation. Great job Black & Decker!

I need an iron that doesn't spit drops on the steam function. From the reviews, I thought this was it. It isn't. I collect antique linens. Over time, those drops turn into rust spots. Why can't someone make a decent iron that doesn't do this? ARGHHH! Other than that, I like the weight of the iron and the swiveling cord. Some irons advertise that they are "light weight." Heavier irons do a better job and this iron is heavier.

I had previously purchased a Rowenta Iron a few months ago, BIG MISTAKE, I would have to iron the garment 2-3 times and still I was not satisfied with the end results. I had a Black & Decker I purchased in 1993, it bit the dust 2 years ago, LOVED that iron so I figured that I better stick to something that was tried and proven. Purchased this iron from Amazon, arrived very quick, my husband was the 1st to use it and he fell in LOVE with the iron, .....I did too. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the iron "spits" water from the holes in the bottom sometimes when you are using the steam mechanism. I'm a seamstress and water spots on satin is terminal. 2nd, I'm constantly refilling it with water, however, it gives off the needed steam.

This replaced an old and very cheap iron that we had for years. Definitely an upgrade for us and no problems after a few months. Will update if we have any issues. I considered buying more expensive options, but this one seemed to have better reviews anyway so I went with it.

I love this iron! It's been something like 20 years since I've bought an iron. The surface of the one I was using was just worn down, so I wanted to replace it. My how times have changed! I love that you can easily with the push of a button change the fabric type. It holds a good amount of water too. The steam dial is great. The best part though is how fast it heats up and the auto shutoff. I do a lot of quilting and it's nice not to have to turn it off and on between pinning and sewing. If it's shut off by the time I need it again, it's just the push of a button and it's heated back up in 10 seconds. I'm so pleased with this iron!!!

I am pleased overall with functions, the weight, and metal sole, I did not want an overloaded overpriced iron.
I was looking for a heavier iron, steam, and reliability. First two are just fine.
The first issue is with its reliability. As some other reviewers noticed, it started to shut off in the middle of the job after less than 3 months of use. I use it once or twice a week for an hour, hour and half max. I need to unplug and plug again to restart it. That happens after 30 or so minutes of using it.

Another issue is with its construction. They have reversed heat and steam regulators from its traditional placement. It has a button and digital display for heat setting on the handle, and steam disk under the handle, where heat setting used to be in older models. I am still mixing them up at times. Also at some point I forgot to press the heat button to set the high hit, and was ironing for a few weeks on low heat, and was very upset by it, until I realised that I forgot how to set the temperature. So for me, this model is not very intuitive, as older versions. It's been 4 months owning this model, and I am not totally used to it.
Also, it does leak a lot. It has a nice water reservoir, large and transparent, easy to monitor, but it does need a refill at least 2 times for my ironing pile for a family of 4 (I don't use dryer for clothing, and iron all but nylon instead)
Another minor negative is that its auto-off function is set for too short time. I barely have time to fold the cloth or to hang it in the wardrobe when the iron goes off.
I am trying not to be annoyed by all these minor things. Because it's still working, and because I like a water reservoir, the metal plate, and an affordable price, I am giving 3 stars to it.

This is my 3rd, if not 4th Black and Decker iron in my 9 years of living in USA. My parents and I used to have just one iron for 20 years in Russia. The others either smoked or lost its heating capacity.

Long Story, but this iron had a lot to live up to. My husband was in a bit of a snit one day and claimed he couldn't see over my pile of clothes atop the dryer, to where the Rowenta is proudly parked. The next thing i knew, it was on the floor in pieces. After ranting about how much a new Rowenta would cost (and thinking of all the other things i could spend about $125 on, I decided to hit my favorite place for reviews (Amazon, of course- and it's FREE!) and got down to business. I was pretty excited when i spied an iron that had good reviews, for less than $20.00. Whoever said "you get what you pay for" was absolutely right in this case! First of all, i was shipped TWO of these (Proctor Silex, btw, the ocean-mist color... i mean, if you're going to get a cheap iron with no features, might as well choose a pretty one, right?) and the seller insisted that I ordered TWO, so i'm into this another $7.00 to return one of them already -my dime.) It was one month and 3 days before i geared up to try 'er out! Nightmare! I poured the distilled water IN, and it poured OUT the bottom almost as fast. When I went to set it down on the ironing board, it was so light and the cord so poorly placed, that it would not stand up. I was appalled! Muttering under my breath something like "gosh darn cheap mass-produced made in china piece of S#%& !!!!!"
I let all the water run out (LOL) and packed it up. The seller was quite reasonable about it, really, and my 2nd return was paid for by someone! I proclaimed to my husband and anyone who would listenthat i was going to buy another Rowenta and that was that! Again, thoughts of new sandals were running through my head, so I thought it couldn't hurt to at least take a peek at some less expensive options.
Enter, the newe Black & Decker. This must have been designed by a woman (just kidding, no insults intended!) Since Amazon is generally excellent with customer service and returns, I stepped outside of the lines and bought this iron. I had to come on and do a review. I use the Amazon reviews ALL the time. In my opinion they beat the Consumer Reports subscription by a long shot!

THE REVIEW OF THE IRON STARTS HERE - WHAT IS WRITTEN ABOVE IS MY TROLL ROUTINE!
The first thing i noticed was the heft and weight of this iron. Then, the gleaming face plate (no teflon-ish stuff to peel or chip). Soooo many holes for steam (and the steam really pumps from this machine!) It heats up in Lightning Speed, (so important now that they all "shut off" automatically-which is ok, i understand the safety issue, but hate waiting for my iron to heat up again if I've gone to grab another Dr. Pepper or something, oh and BTW... this one gives you TEN minutes, not EIGHT like most others.) and the controls are so convenient, just a press of the thumb (no changing hand positions) to change temps. The neon green display "screen" is very high tech looking (this is not your mother's iron, lol) and it continuously displays the fabric type associated with the current temperature. (i think there are 8 or 9 suggested settings.) So, you glance at the iron and READ "cotton" or "linen"-- or whatever it is -- before you begin to "press" Grandma's polyplastic housedress headed for a meltdown! This iron stands BEAUTIFULLY, as the cord is soft, flexible, just the right length... and ON A SWIVEL thing so it just does NOT get in the way, ever. There are more features, but it is not the "bells & whistles" kind that seem to be made to shorten the lifespan of any appliance by crapping out and necessitating the purchase of another one -- each feature is helpful.
I can't imagine a better iron, period. The cord is soft and long, AND attaches to the base with a swivel that really keeps it out of the way. The settings are wonderful! The digital panel tells you which fabric type you're ready to pressis, (so nice for the young housewife of today who had her clothes ironed for her for 20+ years, AND never got her feelings hurt at school. It comes with a handy measuring funnel thing, but in my excitement of ripping into the box, i missed that, and had NO problem pouring straight from the jug into a perfectly angled hole that no water escaped from even when i had hit the VISIBLE water level fill line! The directions say tap water is fine, but I am old-school with my iron and my bissell floor steamer and stick to distilled. There are instructions about "self-cleaning", and a 2 year warranty! This iron makes wrinkles run for cover! It beeps when ready, and for some other reasons, (didn't read all through it yet.) All in all, i give it a HUGE thumbs up! The only thing i will say that "could" be a con is the weight of it. But i wanted a heavy iron, and it glides over fabric like Dorothy Hammill! Yay B & D! This is Hecho en Mexico! A big BIG plus as far as I am concerned. I try with all my might to look for alternatives to landfill-ready items made in China. Phone number for questions is right on the front of the instruction booklet. What a THING~!!!!!! I bet this iron will last at least 20 years. A value at twice the price! My mom is a domestic Queen who irons dishtowels and she is jealous! That just says it all. ------(thanks for listening... :))

I bought this as a replacement to my HM durathon. I looked around and seems like this is the best affordable quality iron in the market right now. The ratings made me jump on the wagon.

I have been using it for quite a while and now and i am getting used to it. It is heavier than my old broken durathon and for me, it feels somewhat bulky.

The steam is powerful so the downside is if you turn it all the way up, you might need to keep refilling it all the time. The little container it came with only holds a very small amount of water so I use a coke bottle instead to fill it up with water.

The LCD monitor is neat but really, most iron even they don't have lcd screen will let you choose the kind of cloth and temperature in a click of a button.

The off and on button is also just ok. It takes one click to turn it on and about 3 seconds long press to turn it off. For me, I prefer the one click off. Specially if i am in a hurry. I am not also fond of the design of the off and on button. It's too small and it puts indent on your finger. They need to get rid of that bump on top of the on/off button and just make a button.

The only thing I like about this iron is that it irons fast and it steams really well. No leaks and no water spitting out like my old durathon.i just need to get used to the heaviness of this one.

Now after having it for quite a while, I kinda wish i just bought a different iron that's a lot lighter. I iron everyday and I can really tell how heavy it is. And every time I iron, It reminds me all the time how I hate that off and on button. Other than those things I give this iron a 4 star just because it really irons well.

This iron is really amazing. It heats up quickly, glides over the fabric, and puts out so much steam it isn't funny.

Setting up the iron to the appropriate temperature is simple. There is a wide range of fabric choices and you just press the button until you reach the appropriate number. Unfortunately you can't go back up, so if you are trying to stop at 6 (cotton) and end up on 7 you have to scroll all the way back through. Maybe when they upgrade the iron they will fix that, but it doesn't detract from ease of use. The cord is long enough to easily reach nearby outlets and still have room to maneuver around the entire board, but not so long that it is easily tangled. Probably isn't a good idea to iron when your outlet is across the room anyway, so this isn't really a negative to me.

The water reservoir is easy to fill and quite large. This is good because this thing puts out a LOT of steam, so you need that extra water volume. The opening where you fill the water snaps closed, and doesn't leak even if you overfill the reservoir a bit (oops).

Ironing itself is a breeze. The iron really glides over the fabric with minimal effort on my part. My old iron had a teflon covered soleplate that was supposed to glide, but no... after trying this one I realized my old iron was crap. The steam... oh man. When you turn the dial up you can see steam coming from the upright iron even if you don't press the steam release button. If you do press that button there is an audible release of steam that takes out even the most stubborn creases.

There are a few negatives/things to keep in mind. First it is a little bulkier than my old iron. This is probably due to the much larger water reservoir and digital components. Not a big deal, but if you really want a compact iron this isn't it. Second, if you have hard water (like me) you will need to regularly clean this iron so you don't get white spots from the calcium. This isn't difficult to do, but if you use a lot of steam you will need to do this a lot.
