Buy the T-shank blades only - Don’t be tempted to purchase the U-shank blades with this item!

I’ve had this saw for a few years, and have used it without any problems until today (5/20/18). The saw comes with a T-shank blade for wood which is great. Now...what you don’t want to do is purchase any U-shank blades for this saw, because eventually the keyless bladelock mechanism will lose some of its spring-tension, rendering that multipack of B&D U-shank blades useless, especially the metal cutting blades. The bladelock mechanism will actually lock the T-shanks blades in places, while the U-shank blades are only held in place by the tension - they never really lock into place.

General Overview of this B&D Jig Saw

Really nice Jig Saw. Why? It doesn't vibrate much at all, it's easy to change blades (it accepts both types), and the dial to adjust the 'aggressiveness' of the blade does make a difference. I thought it might be something that was gimmicky but it does help and is as described. Plenty of power.

Two criticisms - the 'lock on' button is a bit difficult to engage but I'd prefer that as opposed to a button that's too easy to lock into the on position. The second criticism, less nit-picky, is that it can be difficult to eye-ball the cut (keeping in mind it's a jigsaw so none of them are very difficult) but some of the other brands that do this better do so at a cost 3-4-5x more money for equivalent amperage etc. Really nice product and very happy with it. GL.

Used this to make trim cuts on a pool deck. I made several cuts with the included blade. Worked perfectly. Cut through wet, pressure treated, 5/4 decking without issue. Also used it to finish cuts on stair stringers. No problem cutting 1 1/2" material either. Completed project all with the included blade.

A VERY SOLID FEELING JIG SAW (BDEJS600C)

This is an excellent buy and tool. I had to cut a lot of varied lines from 360' to straight. I was cutting with a grounded blade. A blade where the teeth are not offset which made the circular cuts slower and harder to do, but keeps the wood from splintering. The variable speed switch is OK for simple lines, but it is hard to maintain a constant reciprocation speed while turning the saw 360'. I made a rheostat by wiring together a receptacle and dimmer switch in a 4 outlet box. That way I could lock the trigger switch and slow down the reciprocation speed. This save the blade from wood burning in tight turns. It also allowed me to move my grip about the saw body to make the turns. This also allowed me to manipulate the oscillator dial on the go. My pencil lines were dim as a result of tracing around a thin paper pattern. So I taped a key chain penlight on the head just above the saw blade to light up my cut.

I read the reviews for this saw and some of them were not kind. Some did not like it because it left a rough cut and others did not like it because it was hard to make sure the blade was locked in. If you take your time and make sure, it was not even an issue for me. Read the operating instructions and familiarize yourself with the different settings and play with them on some scraps. I found trying out the different settings gave different cuts: Some rough some smooth. I love the way it handles. Curves are a lot easier on some settings. It fits in my hand really well and it has power to spare. I have only had it a few days and I have already built shelves and other things just for fun. I give this jig saw 5 stars.

First it does decent job as described. Second it’s dangerous no switch off button on the body so user will need to plug off between cuts or run into the risk of the blade activated accidentally if anything presses on the on button.
Third user needs to buy his own blades . The one coming with the package is generic with very crude saw teeth that if he cuts anything wood plastic msg, the cut will be very ugly.
