I love that I can adjust the dial before entering a scene so I do not have to scroll through different settings on the switch. Camping with the low setting is excellent so I don't blind everyone in camp but I can change it to strobe or high in a second to use against a black bear wandering around near us. Granted the throw on this is far but not as far as you would like in a search and rescue light. I'd say it's effective at 30 feet and then has a lot of fall off. 30 feet and under this thing is amazing and would cause most anyone to be disoriented if shined with the light on strobe or high. (of course it is all dependent on room light conditions at the time)
I tested this light at a trade show a few weeks ago and the adjustment dial was on metal ring towards the back. I am not sure if that was a prototype because the one I received you turn the adjustment via the end cap. It is a little hard to turn and it does "click" in place so it won't move around on you while using it.
Only con I can think of is the end metal hold should be squarer to prevent rolling when dropped. It is cut to prevent rolling once placed on the counter but code 3 it rolls all over the rig when I set it down. Also it's LED and the light from it is very cool blue and I have never been a fan of LED spectrum but they do pack a punch and use fewer batteries so I can live with it.
Calm shell packaging - Comes with 2 123A batteries - Rain proof - Weapon mountable with off-set mount
It also looks to be durable...I've dropped it a bunch and it's still going strong.
