First and foremost, the manual SUCKS! This is not a $5 toy. For the cost of this thing you would expect a descent manual. All I can say is what a let down. Wouldn't start up out of the box and I went over and over the manual but no mention of this issue. So I spent days chasing the Horizon Hobbies Tech department down to tell me how to even start the thing. Well about a week, four or five phone calls and three Tech's later it starts.
Also, you can completely IGNORE all the videos that show this thing practically flying itself. I'ts a hand full at best. The main problem is mine doesn't always respond to radio input, so now I'm afraid every time I go to use it. All of my flights have been less than 50' high and no more than about 100' away. So being out of radio range isn't the problem.
Now I'll be up front and say I'm partially to blame for lack of experience, but I found it to be VERY shaky at best to operate in any kind of breeze and what makes things worse is the joy sticks have NO resistance to movement what so ever which makes for jerky control moves. So after just two flights, I'm waiting for parts to arrive. I had new Batteries in the radio, fresh charge on the quad and about 45 seconds into the last flight, it just flipped out, wouldn't respond to ANY radio input, spun around backwards and whacked a tree. Like I said, I may be at fault here too, but I'll wait for my parts to arrive, put it back together and try again. I'll be back to share the rest of this story as it unfolds. Who knows, maybe this will turn out to be a descent purchase after all. BUT, at this point if I had to do it again, I'd save my money.
*************************************** ABOVE WAS MY INITIAL EXPERIENCE ********************************
WELL THINGS HAVE GONE FROM BAD TO WORSE.
After a couple more tries at flying this quad, I found myself back on the line with Tech. They now determined the problem to be with the "internal compass and the barometer". I was instructed to "return it to them and they would calibrate it". Well I sent it in and in a couple weeks it came back. But they sent a REPLACEMENT instead of repairing my original (this will come up later). Well guess what, same problem. Intermittently ignores radio input. I gave it two more tries. One resulted in signal loss and a crash and the final straw was it went haywire and whacked me in the arm. I have a couple nice cuts on my arm from that one. So with all that being said, I've had enough. So I tried to return it to Amazon and they said no because "we didn't ship it to you". So I contacted Horizon Hobbies and they said "nope" because we didn't ship it to you. So I did some digging and found out it was shipped by an outfit called FAST AND FUN HOBBIES. So I contacted him (yes HIM. Not a legit business, just some guy selling stuff from his basement) and told him I wanted a refund. Well guess what, DESPITE the fact that I've got countless hours of phone time with Horizon's tech dept, despite the fact that Horizon had me shipping this back and fourth, despite the fact that NEITHER of these quads worked he tells me "too bad" that I should have asked for my money back sooner instead of trying to fix the problem. And a couple of the most infuriating excuses given was "I won't give you your money back because it's not the original one I sold you" (remember the replacement?). He also stated it would "cost him too much" in shipping costs to send it back to horizon and all his profits would be lost on this sale. That's the kind of customer service you can expect from FAST AND FUN HOBBIES!
My final take away from this mess is BUYER BEWARE!!! This is NOT the quality piece they claim it to be. I think there are many others quads out there FAR better than the 350QX.
The final warning I'll leave you with is NEVER accept a shipment from a place called FAST AND FUN HOBBIES. In my opinion, avoid this outfit like the plague!!! Not a legit business. Buy from them and you're on your own!!!
