It opens with him talking about his past and Amanda. He gives a bit of his background and what makes him tick. He is his own boss and has a good life going for him. He has a huge heart and loves unconditionally. His mom and sister are great. I love how Gavin opened his mind heart and home for homeless Chloe. He was her rock and there for her when she never had anyone. There was an instant attraction for them. It all; happens because of a tragic incident. When Chloe is afraid she runs.
Chloe, down on her luck, homeless and is one of the most prideful people I have ever read. She doesn’t let her situation get her down. She is strong, very independent, smart, beautiful and very artistic. She is afraid to let people in because of her past. Her past is heartbreaking and my heart broke for her. It’s what makes her the humble woman she is today. Growing up in the foster care system can bring you down, but she didn’t let it.
Just when we think good for these two it takes the dramatic turn I was talking about, then it is Chloe’s turn to be everything that Gavin needs. These two are perfect for each other. They complete one another. Their love never falters. They give each other strength and stability. Now the secondary characters are also spot on. Liz, Gavin’s sister keeps you on her toes. Gavin’s mother Vera was great and comedic as well. Just at the perfect times. I loved Mason role here as well. I could simply go on and on. I didn’t want the story to end. I truly fell in love with everyone in this book.
Join Chloe and Gavin and see if they can overcome everything that life throws at them and rise above it all.
This story is told in parts – it is one of the longer books that I’ve read this year but I think you’ll find it’s worth the price. Don’t expect this to be a fluff piece. There’s heart and soul here as well humor and sexual situations.
Gavin Fletcher is out trying to do the right thing for his health. It’s a way for him to try and forget his stressors. Chloe Cabot is at the right place at the wrong time. But it turns out all right in the end. You never know who’s going to come into your life and the effect they will have on it. This is especially true when Gavin disclosed something very personal – certainly had me do a double take.
Most books that I’ve read this year have our male character with light, dark, or even gray hair. It was nice to see an author who gave her character red hair. They are men who tend to get overlooked – can’t figure out why. On top of that, she gives him an interesting pet choice. At one point you think that you have to feel sorry for Chloe but she shows that she doesn’t want your pity. She will not let her situation define her and once Gavin comes into her life she seems to bloom.
I could go on and on about the book but if I did you wouldn’t be able to enjoy it for yourself. There is BDSM her but it’s just an extension of who Gavin is. He’s not trying to convert anyone but you have to take him as he is. He makes Chloe comfortable in trying to learn what she would like to do in order to please her partner. It’s not about pain. For me, it was a great introduction to the writing style of an author I’ve never read before. This isn’t the first book she’s written so I will have to check out some of her other work.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Two is about Saving Gavin. What is it that he needs to be saved for or from? What I found out about Saving Gavin for Part Two really hit home for me. The trials and tribulations that Gavin and Chloe go through, and what happens with Chloe was definitely worth reading. Will everything work out? What happens with Chloe's boss Hugh and Gavin's mother Vera? What about Liz? When Gavin is finally back at work and has an interview for a VP spot in his company, who does he interview? What happens when Chloe walks down the hall to see where he is? What happens when she opens the door further and stands there, pale as a ghost? Who is Melvin Clay? To find out all the good and bad that happens in this second part of the book, you're going to have to read the book. Totally worth it!
