They were cultivated in Java from 16th century and for over 200 years the cubeb was a popular substitute for black pepper in Europe. Cubeb hase a warm pleasant aroma, lightely peppery. The taste of the Cubeb is stronger than the black pepper. Cubeb is use in asian cuisine and to make curry powder
