*R2 and R2 LTE support WiFi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
** R2 and R2 LTE for the first 24-48 hours Bluetooth was difficult to pair and WiFi dropped. After the first 24-48 this these problems disappeared. I do not know if was because of an Over The Air (OTA) software upgrade or something else.
Pay the extra $19 and get the Blu R2 LTE. It was packaged great with a case and a screen protector. It has one micro SD and two micro SIMM slots inside the back aluminum cover. The two SIMMs are for two different phone numbers. The display is 5.2 inches. The display is great but not real High Definition (768 Pixels). The advantages of a small display and a low resolution display are long battery life and low battery consumption. There are two 13 megapixel cameras and two flashes. One camera and flash is on the back and one camera and flash is on the front. Camera resolution is not the determining factor for picture quality. Aperture, focus and image stabilization also determine picture quality. The back camera is decent. I did not use the front camera.
The phone is great. The one speaker located on the back of the phone is loud and there is an electronic boost. The earphone jack and micro USB (Not USB C) are located on the top of the phone and are not centered (Unusual). It has Android Nouget 7.0. I do not know if Oreo 8.0 upgrade is included. This is not the phone with the biggest display for $109 but it is the highest quality phone I have seen for $109. There is also an accelerometer, charge and notification light, and proximity sensor. Mine is Gold it came with a semi-transparent white and frosted silicone case. It looks more expensive than it cost.

I also bought a Blu R2 Plus. It has a bigger display 5.5 inches and high resolution (1028 Pixels). The battery life is shorter. Also, the Blu R2 Plus does not have CDMA for Verizon. I prefer the Blu R2 LTE versus the Blu R2 Plus because of the battery life and CDMA for Verizon.
Positives: The biggest positive has to be the value of what you get. This is a very usable phone for the price. I've had it for a few months so far and it just works. It's certainly not a "flagship" phone. But the display is pretty sharp, the responsive time is acceptable, and it seems to be pretty stable. I had a spare 32gb MicroSD card, so storage is not a problem at all. Another positive is that it still has a headphone jack! I still like being able to just plug in my headphones and not worry about pairing or having to worry if my headphones are charged.
Negatives: The biggest negative is the camera. It *can* take some pretty nice photos at times, but it often takes some really crappy photos. They tend to come out blurry. That's my biggest knock on the phone.
Other minor complaints are the battery life (the display seems to drain the battery in a few hours) and that the charger is micro USB and the headphone jack and charger connection are located on the top edge of the phone. Having the charger port on the top edge makes for an awkward look when you mount the phone in the car for GPS and you have this cord looping out of the top. I somewhat solved this issue with a left angle micro USB cord for the car.
This isn't going to be my longterm phone. I'll eventually upgrade to something better in a few months. However, if you have a kid wanting a phone or if you need a temporary phone, you could do worse than to spend $130 on this one.
Update 4/11/18 - still love this phone. It is still as quick and functions as well as it did on day one. Really wish I could get a case for it though!

But the bugs, the bloatware and the little frustrations really ruin what would otherwise be a great product. What a shame Blu!
Let's start with the bloatware. The R1 HD and R1 Plus, both which I've owned came with a handful of things added, which I didn't find too obtrusive at all. This thing comes with Blu Rewards which are basically set up to make you watch adds. I don't need a loud annoying notification telling me every day or so that I should log into Blu Rewards for 1000 bonus points, and then have my phone play ad, after ad. Thanks, but no thanks.
Who on earth thought that horrendous long loud default notification sound was a good idea? It's awful! And changing it in the system settings is making me feel like I'm playing whack-a-mole; every time I think I've successfully changed the notification tone, I have to find it in every individual application, and change it to something far less obtrusive.
The total deal breaker is that the phone randomly quit my podcast application several times during playback. For no reason, I was listening to something, and it just stopped.
The phone also doesn't power off or on correctly. Sometimes it does, other times not so much.
I really, REALLY wanted to like this phone. It struck me as such a great replacement for my beloved R1 Plus which suffered an untimely screen fracture and end. Sadly though, the R2 has been nothing but an exercise in frustration. Sadly, this is where I part ways with Blu.
I'm really pleased with the phone, it was easy to set up and download all the apps that I need / want. Picture is excellent, battery life great and it's quick to recharge, the screen is very responsive - the only small issue I've had is that the fingerprint sensor sometimes stops working until the phone is rebooted.
It was easy to port my previous PAYG number & credit from Tesco. Apart from the very occasional phone call or text, I use the phone only on Wifi networks, so the Tesco 4G issue isn't an issue for me.
I don't want my phone to do this for me at random times during the day.
I sent it back and bought a proper phone.......
