Before I bought the Ironman, I tried a less expensive running stroller (Kelty speedster) and was very disappointed. It was a little difficult to unfold and had some sharp edges and finger pinching hazards on some of the parts. Worst of all it pulled very hard to the right when jogging and despite a badly-designed front-wheel alignment adjustment, it could not be corrected. After having it veer into bicycle and car traffic a couple times, I returned it for a refund.
My only reservation in buying the Ironman was that I'd read that the handlebar could not be adjusted for height. I'm 6' 3" so I thought this would be an important feature. I bought it anyway, and it's been amazing:

The handlebar height is fine for both me and my wife (she's much shorter than I am)
The front wheel alignment adjustment is very effective - it was very easy to get it rolling perfectly straight
I can unfold it easily with one arm.
Lightweight - we live in a 2nd floor walk-up in Brooklyn and i can carry it upstairs easily
Comfortable for my son - He's tall and weighs 35lb
Didn't think we really needed the shock-absorbers, but they are very nice - particularly when going over curbs, steps, etc.
It has a bicycle-type brake on the handlebar - this took a bit of adjustment to get it to work the way I wanted, but is a very nice feature when going down steep hills (out of breath)
All of the parts /construction feel very high quality
Large wheel size makes a big difference, it almost feels like it's rolling itself along
Sun shade / cover is very effective and easy to retract fully.
Can be a little challenging to get around the grocery store but the storage layer under the seat is very useful and holds a lot
Very easy to steer, well balanced so it doesn't take a lot of effort to redirect it
Comfortable running either behind or along-side

Overall, I highly recommend this stroller.

I really wanted to like this stroller, it looks great, build quality seems good and it is light. The brake works fine, it rolls with ease, and you can adjust the front wheel in case it would not track straight and pull in one direction ... it was ten times better than the Jeep Liberty stroller we had before ...

BUT

our daughter is 2,5 years old and her height is 38 inch. She does NOT fit in this stroller. If you leave the canopy open, it is on top of her head. The Jeep stroller was big enough for her now and the years to come. Something I was expecting from the Bob Ironman as well. Too bad, it has to go back, this will not suit children over 36 inches tall,

I will try to add a picture of my daughter in the stroller.

I researched joggers for months before deciding on the Ironman.
I read reviews, looked at height/weight limits, read blogs of runners with strollers, and weighed the cost of other exercise alternatives.
A little excessive maybe, but I knew that if I picked the wrong stroller I wouldn't like using it, and the money I spent on it would be wasted.

So, why the BOB Ironman?
1) It's the lightest weight jogging stroller option out there. To be able to comfortably run long distances like I did pre-pregnancy, that would be key. The Ironman has been WONDERFUL. Really fun to push and run with.
2) This has been rated and reviewed by a few different sources as the #1 option for running. That being said, it's ONLY suitable for running. The Ironman has a fixed wheel. Having a fixed wheel keeps the stroller from careening off one direction or another when you hit a pebble or a crack. It makes for a smooth ride for baby and an enjoyable run for you.
Some joggers have the option of switching back and forth from fixed wheel to a pivoting front wheel. That's great for people who only want to use one stroller, they can lock it in place to go for a run and unlock it when they go to the mall and want to be able to maneuver the stroller.
I didn't want the option of locking and unlocking. While it's a convenience it's slightly less sturdy than a wheel that is fixed 100% of the time. I have another stroller, so I use this JUST for running.
3) It's durable. I could not find an option that equaled the Ironman in durability without being heavy and bulky. (Like I mentioned above, I wanted something lightweight)
If you're not planning on running long distances, or not planning on running very often, Jeep and Schwinn have options I would say are worth looking at.

We have several friends who run with their babies / children, and who own Bob strollers. I always thought "a Bob" to be an excessive purchase. "They cost what?! It's just a stroller!" Well, I was wrong. When we first began taking our baby out on runs, we used a second-hand running stroller generously given to us by a friend. It worked okay. It rolled fairly easily, was fine to maneuver, and held the baby securely. On a trip to NYC last summer however, we wanted to continue running and found out it's easy to rent running strollers in the city. We ordered a stroller, and the service dropped off at our hotel a Bob brand stroller (different model.) During our first run, we realized why Bob strollers cost what they do. The week we returned home, we ordered the Bob Ironman.

The rented Bob stroller had a movable front wheel (which could be pegged fixed). This seems to be a good feature for multi-use of the stroller. i.e. running, jogging, walking, etc. But for our purposes, we needed a fast running stroller for urban use. So, we selected the fixed wheel Ironman. The problem we encountered with the non-fixed front wheel was getting the stroller to track straight. We constantly had to make minor course adjustments. The Ironman eliminates this. Once the front wheel is calibrated, it stays straight. Making turns is no problem. Simply push down on the handle bar, raising the front wheel, and pivot.

The spoke wheels are fast and light weight. Perfect for our needs. The frame is sturdy, yet light weight. The materials used elsewhere (i.e. fabric) all are high quality and long wearing. The canopy is nice and large. Perfect for shielding our child from the harsh sun, or a bit of wind or even rain.
