As woodworkers we know we want to be making stuff all the time. However, there are idle moments when we wonder what to do. Well, this is the time to clean your bits and blades. I have several carbide tipped router bits, and a couple of expensive Freud saw blades that tend to get gummy if I'm making projects from sappy or oily woods like pine or cedar. That gummy accumulation will have a negative effect on your bits/blades and needs to be removed. This product will do that for you. I was very pleased at how quickly it dissolved the brown build-up of resin on my bits. Cleaning the saw blades was even easier. I "borrowed" one of my wife's spare toothbrushes (the dentist gives them away) and used it to gently rub the resin off the teeth of the blade. This formula is reuseable too, so whatever you can collect in a jar or plastic sheet or even a ziplock bag can be poured back into the bottle.
I was keen to see if this stuff could clean up some really old high-speed steel router bits that had burned on resin. It could, but it took a soaking for that old hardened stuff to come off. This is a product that lives up to its claims. I'll but more as I need it.

I was at the Woodcrafters store in Birmingham this past week on a Friday. They were having a great sale and had sales reps in from different companies for two days. One rep said that he was in the blade sharping business for several years and that between 70% - 75% of all the blades that were brought into there company only needed cleaning and not sharpened. So I picked up a bottle of Blade and Bit Cleaner and it is awesome. I cleaned a blade that I had replaced and was going to get sharpened, but now I don't. I highly recommend this product to anyone who owns a saw.

I tried this at the recommendation of a woodworker's messageboard. I really didn't expect much. I am 100% sold, and it will never be missing from my shop in the future.
It cleans my saw blades, drill bits, wood tools, and cnc and router bits like they're brand new, with a minimal amount of effort. A little patience letting it soak in, and a 50 cent brass wire brush make the big jobs simple. Bits can be cleaned with a rag and a short soak.
It's been said that simple green, oven cleaner, and other things do the same kind of job. Simple Green does not. That orange goo, it doesn't get it, either. Why anyone would want to suck oven cleaner fumes is beyond me, but hey, to each his own. It's been said that oven cleaner can harm some tools and the price is pretty much the same, so why have to don gloves and breath fumes to do what Boeshield does comfortable and effortlessly?
I don't generally write reviews as I don't believe in heaping words on mediocrity. Boeshield has earned my time by saving me time, misery and effort. It's my pleasure to share how well this solvent works.
Before I go, I should mention that the bottle has a litte pump spray mister on it that actually works very well. There's a nice cap on the bottle that keeps the pump clean and fresh, not full of sawdust. It's the little things that count, ya know? :)

I bought this to clean off a few router bits, some of which had gunk sitting on them for a long time, and it worked amazingly well. As soon as I sprayed it on the resin and gum just started melting off. One of two bit required it to sit on there for 60 seconds, but it got my bits looking like new in no time.

One recommendation is to take off any guide/template guide bearings before using it. I am not sure if the stuff will penetrate and degrade the lucubration in the bearings, but I decided not to risk it and just take them off beforehand.

This stuff is amazing - the pitch and tar practically drips off. I've tried mineral spirits, goof-off and WD-40, and none of these really removes the pitch from my table-saw blade. I put this stuff on and the pitch practically runs off. I do wipe with paper towels. In seconds the blade looks spankin shiny new. The bottle doesn't say what's inside; I'm curious because it works so well where nothing else does. There's no significant odor. I'd only give the pump-spray mechanism 3 stars, especially as the fluid gets near low, but the liquid cleaner inside 5+ stars - it's magic.

It really loosened and cleaned my router bits as well as the teeth on my saw blades. Just a little spray and wait for it to soak in and then I use a nylon brush to clean off the gunk - comes off very easily.

I agree with all of the other reviews that this stuff is great for wood tools.
And I would like to add that it is terrific for garden tools such as hand and
pole pruners, saws, hedge shears and almost everything else. Nothing
else compares.
