I've tried wiping my boots and shoes off using everything imaginable, from old files to pocket knifes, sticks, twigs, old carpet scraps... you name it.
I found something that worked fairly well for about two weeks (made of bristles on a twisted wire-bed) but it didn't hold together and was soon in the trash.
This boot scraper (I bought on Amazon) arrived right before a soaking rain came and I was eager to see how it performed. To my amazement, it did a very good job of removing the clay muck from my boots before walking into my garage. It scrubbed not only the bottom of the boots, but along the sides. It didn't seem to do a great job of removing clay from the toe end of the boot though, but I was so happy at the way it got the muck off the bottoms and sides, I'm thinking about ordering a second one to place outside of my barn.
The boot scraper will not drain water though, so after scraping my boots on it two times, I had to dump the water and muck. I guess in a way though it's good that the tray holds water in the event someone decides to place this just inside their door to their home. For me, I'm happy to scoot the boot in this contraption...
I rinse it off and put it inside the door when I am through...
A good invention for those who like feet and boots and shoes to be perfectly clean...with water!...when you come in from the garden or when it has been raining and you pick up a leaf or some grit/sand, or soil...and you don't want to track anything into the house. I love it...
It works okay but quickly clogs with mud, meaning you have to hosed it out.
The coconut fiber on metal frame ones work better and seem to be almost self cleaning, the mud dries and falls through.
These would be good for inside the door where you didnt want to get any dirt on the floor

This scraper didn't do a great job on dirt in the treads of sneakers. I think it did an ok job on winter boots caked with snow.Published on May 8, 2013 by Amazon Customer
The product helps remove chicken poop from my shoes before coming back into my garage. It works pretty well but not as effectively for shoes or boots with big tread like mine. Read morePublished on March 2, 2013 by Audrey V.
it works probably very well by itself but in combination with rugs for mud it maybe a little overkill on trying to keep the mud and crud outside DRPublished on February 8, 2013 by dan
