Background: I've mainly used headphones in the $30-$50 range by Apple ($30), Jlab ($40), Skullcandy ($50), and Sony ($30) I know these are by no means high standards but most people have experienced them and can use them as a reference/comparison. I've also used a pair of $170 Beats, but as everyone knows, they're extremely overpriced although they were better than all of the earphones mentioned above. First off, the Apple's sucked, Sony's were decent, and Jlab and Skullcandy were comparable. About 8 months ago, I was looking for good IEMs that were <$80, so I took the plunge on these since Amazon had them on sale for $80 instead of their "supposed" MSRP of $399.
Design (5/5): Personally, I thought they were good looking headphones but didn't think they were anything special. To my surprise, I actually had many people compliment on their design. I didn't purchase these headphones for looks, but the fact that they look good is always a plus. Also, in the picture, they look somewhat dull and gray, but in reality, they're a very dark black and the chrome accents are very shiny. The most accurate representation is probably the top wire in picture #2.
*Also, the microphone piece only contains a single button for answering calls and controlling music functions (play, pause, next, and previous). There is NOT a volume control, which is probably my biggest complaint with the design.Read more ›
