One side of the knife is metal and the other side plastic. The retractable blade carriage is also plastic but seems to hold up well.
It comes with only one blade that you will have to install before using the knife. There is room to store more blades inside of the handle.
Because of the price, I bought several of these. I gave one to my coworker who commented that he liked how the blade locked in.
I do not perform heavy duty work with mine. A blade usually lasts me about a month. If you tend to abuse your knife you might want to get something else, but for less than $3.00 give it a try. You can always use it as a back up.
Some have mentioned it not coming with a blade, which is sort of true. The blade is not loaded into the carrier by default, but you first need to unscrew it and open it up to load the blade in place. Still, I would put it past anyone to forget to put a blade inside upon shipping, but the one I received did come with one very sharp blade.
The next time I need another utility knife to handle smaller jobs, I will buy another one of these. I can't speak on how it performs for bigger jobs, like cutting linoleum and what not, but for me it's been great.
Tag board thinks it's going to stay in one piece? Wrong. Utility knife to the rescue.
Paint dripping while you're touching up a wall? I don't think so. Razor that ish off with this handy knife.
Yep. Pretty much fixed everything wrong in my life. Five stars.
