The audio pickup of this microphone is omni-directional and it definitely makes a positive difference when using it. I picked up this mic after doing some research for microphones I could use with my iPad and iPhone to enhance onboard sound. This one is perfect for my uses and at twenty bucks the price was right too.
An excellent accessory I highly recommend!
NOTE: If you go to playback a video you recorded using this mic and you don't hear anything, unplug it from the device and you should hear the recording.
* The cable is very long
* It is powered for use with a DSLR or Video Camera (includes battery)
* Probably the best budget lapel mic out!
It is a great microphone and the price is right for $20 you can't go wrong it is better then all those expensive mic's out there.
Although it practically eliminates the AC noise, I was disappointed that it does let in louder ambient sounds, including loud voices on the other side of a closed door.
Quality issue: the clip broke the first time I used the mic. My subject broke it trying to clip it to his shirt.
Be sure to read the instructions about leaving it in the "off" position to use it with your phone.
Top international reviews
Now the customer service in India and China are just making me run in circles, the Amazon service says contact the Chinese helpline, and they are instructing to contact vendor in India. The Indian service is sharing the same Chinese contact info again and again and none of an Indian helpline service.
I am sick now of the service provided for this product, the review in youtube is contrasting. This should have been a good experience with a budget microphone but sadly wasn't.. I wanted to work on recording my voice for important projects and now I am helpless.
Be sure to carry extra batteries. The mic itself is very good but it was picking up too many breath noises as I paused. It turned out it was because I had the camera mic setting on auto, so each time the volume was going up when I wasn't talking. Problem solved but those damn wind foam covers they never stay on. I fasten mine down with a plastic pull tight.
I haven't used the option for recording with DSLR. But the mic is working fine with my smartphone. The cable is pretty long which was one of the main drawbacks of my previous mic.
This gadget is recommended to people who are serious about the sound quality of their Audios and Videos.
Still not clear with the guarantee provided by the seller. I feel there should be at least 9/12 months of Guarantee Period for a gadget priced around 1.1K

ESTE MICROFONO ES IDEAL PARA TODO.
I had been using a Generic mic previously. But now the switch to this has dramatically improved the audio quality of my YouTube videos.
It is extremely easy to use and the battery life has been fantastic too!
It picks up enough sound details and does need much editing in post.
It picks up very little noise which can then be easily removed in Audacity or Adobe Audition.
Sound quality is crispy and I simply can't explain how improved it is. I have my YouTube channel named 'The Reviewologists'. You should check it out to get a feel of the actual audio quality. I will upload a review soon so make sure you're subscribed!
If you're hesitant about buying this over the Generic mics, go ahead with this one. You won't regret it!
Just remember that when using any mic with a mobile device, unplug it when you playback your file. Why? Because you plugged your mic into the audio jack, of course. Most apps will assume you've plugged in a headset or other type of speaker, so the apps send sound through the jack and not to the main speaker. Please don't panic and assume your mic malfunctioned (some reviewers appear to have done just that). If you really want to keep your mic plugged in during playback, you can change your settings to always use the main speaker (very easy to do on most phones/tablets, but I still find it simpler to unplug the mic).
The little clip is strong, and the mic stays on securely. The chord is much longer than I'll ever need, which is fine by me. I've never fully unraveled it, and never will. Nor will I ever run into a problem with it being too short. Bottom line, I feel I can rely on this mic to do the job, whatever I'm doing.
One last thing. When buying electronics it's really important to understand that the manufacturing costs depend very heavily on what % of the devices are lemons. You can sometimes find the exact same product coming off the same assembly line under different brand names and the only difference is that the cheap brands are more likely to be faulty (eg. maybe 3-5% of the cheap ones are duds, while the expensive brands only allow <0.1% failure rate). Even so, most of the cheap ones will work just as well as the high-priced brands. For simple electronics like this, I usually choose a low-cost one and take my chances. I would never take that chance with a complex device like a phone because too many things can go wrong. But with a mic? Sure! I took a chance and I would do so again. I always check reviews first though, and make sure I see some glowing reviews. I want to know that if the product works, it's going to work well. The last thing I want is a device that is poorly designed, and there are plenty of those out there too so be careful.
For me, this little mic is a good example of an inexpensive product at a price low enough for me to easily take the risk. Do be honest with yourself though. If you get a dud, would you be really upset? Would you bother trying to get a refund? Maybe you wouldn't bother, but you're willing to risk the cash anyway. Just be honest with yourself. And if you're feeling unlucky, don't buy cheap electronics!
but is is good for beginners, ofcourse this is not a professional's choice. but for normal youtubers, this would be a great help. Enjoy!
