4 of my own kids, 15 babysat kids, countless relative kids, and 17 years we are still searching for that perfect sippy cup, but in the meantime these are the closest yet.
With the valve pushed all the way in snugly our toddler can actually throw this cup and it does not knock the valve inside loose. There are not a lot of parts to mildew if you can't wash them all perfectly. The cups are cute and pictures are not chipping or rubbing off. And best yet, without the lids they are usable as normal drinking cups for any age. We bought these in the smaller size as well (we don't use the handled lids though, since our girl is a toddler and beyond the handles). We use the 6 oz. cups for juice and the 10 oz. cups for water or milk. It is not hard to put the lid on, I've never had to "check for leakage" and they haven't leaked in the 7 months since we got them, but the lids fit on so well that they can be difficult to get off, especially if your hands are wet. The valve is only hard to get out until you figure out that you can use the edge of the cup to pry it out. I dishwasher the lids and cups, and hand wash the valves. The cups all stack neatly.
Looking at more to invest in, since our 9 year old likes to drink out the cups too, as they are cute.
