We wanted a Region Free Blu-Ray player to view discs produced in the UK. The set-up process for the LG BPM-35 was very simple - just plug in the power cord and attach the unit to the TV with the included HDMI cable. Play-back for our UK discs was automatic. Blu-Ray discs from other regions require selection via the remote following included instructions. We also really enjoy the Wi-Fi capability since we are subscribers to Netflix and Amazon Video and view YouTube. The set-up procedure found our network easily enough, but it produced an error message until we discovered that using the network apps required acceptance of a general agreement that is presented when you attempt to connect to Netflix or other app. This a simple solution to the network error message, but we were fortunate to stumble upon it since there are no instructions in the package related to Wi-Fi set up. As noted in other reviews, the remote is very small, but intuitive and functional. We purchased the LG BPM-35 only one week ago and have not used it extensively, but our first impression is very positive.

I've only had this for a few days but I'm astonished by how small it is and how easy to use (and set up) it was. I was a little skeptical and panicked that I had purchased the wrong thing as it seemed so basic to have all the functionality. So far it has been great. we have viewed a few DVDs with ease and I connected to Netflix and Amazon Prime. I had some issues at first with the screen ratio but by viewing the full instructions on LG online, was able to easily figure out how to set it so that the picture filled my full screen. It came well packaged as well. Thrilled I made this choice!

Was easy to install, working great with euro zone dvds. Additionally the network Wi-Fi configuration was simple and access to streaming services was a plus. The newer Netflix interface is cleaner and better than the one on my older Samsung tv. Update 1/27/2019 using product for about a month now and the device continues to losing the Wi-Fi configuration requiring us to configure the network settings every time we want to use it for premium online content access. Very disappointing! And why I have lowered my previous 5 star rating to 3 stars!

Okay I like this dvd player but it has a few quirks to it. You may not know its on since the only way to tell without having a TV connected to it is a little yellow light right in the middle of the black front. And the remote can fit into my large hand and I can close it and its gone. But that may be good in some cases. But maybe hard to find. And just the right size for some pets to get and chew on. And some cats could get it and play with it. But i that case put a cats video in it and see if they watch it? A very good size if you are lacking in space for a dvd player. And this one is region free. JUST save the instructions that come with it to get used to it.

Can't watch (Region A) Blu-ray's which is basically every American movie I own. I am pretty disappointed because we bought 2 of these players and they don't work for us.

Only negative is that it did not have an optical digital audio out port - not really a deal breaker but would have made my install easier since my audio system and my old DVD player used optical digital audio connections. My Sony blu-ray, which worked well for 8 years, finally got tired. I replaced it with this LG. I have been disappointed.
First, it is wi-fi only. I can work with that. But It would be nice to have an ethernet option.
Next, the set up was difficult. The on-screen choices were not explained either in the two(!) page paper brochure nor online--at least not that I could find. So it was experiment--test--experiment--test. It took a few tries to connect my tv online and my streaming device so I could watch streaming services.
The remote lacks some features, like "display" which shows you where you are in a dvd. Also, it lacks the ability to select subtitles if you are watching a dvd in a language not your own. The subtitles can be selected, but only from the dvd menu. This is cumbersome. There is a 'caption' button, but like other buttons, it does not respond.
Worse, features on the remote are unresponsive. I cannot jump to the next episode, although the button to do so is there. It doesn't work. The fast forward button does not work. The rewind button works, but you can't halt the delete. Perhaps you can, but there are no instruction. All this is problematic since my last player and its remote worked smoothly.
The picture is good.
The two stars are for the continuing frustration with the remote.
